Wie erzähle ich mit meinen Bildern eine Geschichte?

Manchmal habe ich beim Photographieren zu einem Ort mehrere Ideen, die auch aufeinandeer aufbauen können. Gelegentlich entwickeln sich solche Ideen mit der Zeit. Dann können zwischen den einzelnen Fotos auch Jahre liegen.
Bei diesem Beispiel ist es so.

How do I tell a story with my pictures?

Sometimes when I'm photographing a place, I have several ideas that can build on each other. Occasionally such ideas develop over time. Then there can be years between the individual photos.
The next series is an example for storytelling.

Es handelt sich hier um eine Serie von fünf Fotos, die gemeinsam angesehen eine Geschichte erzählen.

Auf der Couch/ On the couch

Dieses Bild entstand in Görlitz. Erik und Marlene sind die Models, Sven war hinter der Kamera. Das Bild ist zwar einfach in der Durchführung, hat aber einen schönen Effekt, der die Gedanken des Klienenten durch die Mehrfachbelichtung gut darstellt. Ich habe den Raum mit Farbscheinwerfern ausgeleuchtet. Danach Marlene mittels Scanner (Marke Eigenbau von Sven) eingescannt und danach Erik bei jedem Schritt neu gescannt.

Psychiatry

This is a series of five photos that tell a story together.
This picture was taken in Görlitz. Erik and Marlene were the models, Sven was behind the camera. The picture is simple in execution but has a nice effect, which shows the client's thoughts well, throughout multiple exposures. I lit the room with coloured spotlights. Then I scanned Marlene with a scanner (Sven's own brand) and rescanned Erik with every shot.

Die nächsten zwei Bilder entstanden fünf Monate später im Rahmen eines Lightpaintertreffens in Berlin. Wir waren in einer alten Fabrik. Meine Models waren in beiden Bildern Erik, Reagan Roberts (eine amerikanische Künstlerin) und Monika. Sven war wieder hinter der Kamera. Den Raum beleuchtete ich indirekt durch die Fenster mittels Farbscheinwerfern und kleinen RGB-Taschenlampen hinter den Türen. Die Models wurden eingescannt.

The next two pictures were taken at a light painters' meeting in Berlin five month later. We were in an old factory. My models in both pictures were Erik, Reagan Roberts (an American artist) and Monika. Sven was behind the camera again. I lit the room indirectly through the windows using coloured spotlights and small RGB torches behind the doors. The models were scanned.

aggressiv/ aggressive

Die folgenden Bilder entstanden zwei Jahre später, wieder in derselben Fabrik. Auch die Technik ist dieselbe wir bei den anderen Bildern. In diesm Bild war Erik das Model und Sven hinter der Kamera.

The following pictures were taken two years later in the same factory. The technique is the same as in the other pictures. In this picture, Erik was the model and Sven was behind the camera.

Im folgenden Bild waren die Models Erik, Dominic und Matti. Sven war der Kameramann. Hier habe ich allerdings mit komplementären Hintergrundfarben gearbeitet, unter anderem um die neue Situation zu kennzeichnen.

In the following picture Erik, Dominic and Matti were the models. Sven was behind the camera again. Here I have worked with complementary background colours, among other things to depic a new situation.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
