Macro Flowers

I'm anticipating a good year for catching some flowers so thought I would post some from the last time I was able to get out and find some just before the pandemic.

For this images I used a Nikon 35mm lens which on its own wouldn't give the magnification needed to get this close.

To make this lens into a macro lens I used extension tubes which I have mentioned before attach between the camera body and lens allowing a regular prime lens to become a macro one.

Usually with this you will get a very shallow slice of focus and shallow depth of field. I often use live view on my screen as to focus typical you are moving the camera closer and further to get your desired effect rather then manually adjusting focus.

Autofocus is not usually possible with extension tubes as the lens will be unable to find a point of focus. Its an interesting way to capture macro as it involves a different method.
