Bumble bee on my sedum. The sedum had a good year and is popular with the bees right now. Most of the bees here are the common Eastern Bumble Bee.
This less appealing bug is a western conifer seed bug or more simply a pine beetle. It is not actually confused while it is on a black eyed susan the flower is growing among a stand of white pine.
On our afternoon walk, we saw these two large trout near the start of the Leicester River where it starts coming out of Lake Dunmore. Sometime we see trout in the shallows this time of year was the water cools down.
Yesterday morning was cool all the way down to 44F. The lake is warmer causing steam to rise up off the water in the morning.
Its always hard to capture the mist on the water in a photograph. You can see it in the darker reflections of the mountains on the lake.
The bumble bees were the most photogenic scene of the day so here are a couple more of those photos.
The delicate, tiny sedum blooms are also beautiful right now.
We haven't decided exactly what this flower is but we have a few in one of our beds. We got a couple plants from a neighbor a few years ago. They are holding their own but not really thriving.

Does the last flower have fuzzy gray-green leaves and stems? If so, it's rose campion. I think I had one survive the cold frame debacle but it hasn't flowered so I'm not sure.
