We got out for a short hike along a new trail in our area. The Salisbury Mills trail is a new trail on 70 acres of forested land that is a part of the Middlebury Area Land Trust. What a great place for a #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay.
The trail is being built by volunteers. This cool new bridge goes to a small area with a fire ring and a couple of benches. The locals are confused by the bridge seemingly to nowhere. It would have been nice for the bridge to actually cross the stream 🤔
The waterfall is roaring continuously this year with all the rain. The waterfall is the spillway over a small hydroelectric dam. The dam feeds a large pipe approximately 5 ft in diameter that runs down to a hydroelectric power plant.
The trail runs through a mixed forest - lots of maple, oak, beech, aspen in this section. White pine in other areas.
We didn't see any other people on our hike but we weren't alone. This eft was in a hurry going somewhere.
The trail is named for the ruins of several mills along the stream. The stream is actually the Leicester river.
I think the trail is actually a loop but we always walk back along the top of the hydroelectric plant water pipe. Its wide enough to be an easy walk. Hope you enjoyed our #wednesdaywalk 🙂

That’s interesting to see the bridge. Maybe they build it so people don’t trip in that area. It would have been cooler if it would go over the stream.
