I do like your choice and I think it shows the most emotion out of all the portraits, but my favorite (by a narrow margin) is the double face portrait. I am trying to figure out if the front/light face is the true face, or simply the one she allows the world to see? These are really good for 11th graders! I am impressed!

Many times it's the second, the one in the shadow and that we don't always see in real life.

I'd say these paintings are amazing for that young age.

I think so as well, except for actors and other very famous people. With those you only get to see what they present to the world yet in private could be literal monsters. I've heard it said that everyone has three faces....one presented to the world, one shown only to our loved ones, and the last one...the inner one shown to no one, only known to ourselves.
