First Responders In Action

In my last post of long exposure photos, I mentioned that at the end of my night I had come across a fire and the first responders attending to it. After processing the photos I found out more of what happened.

In the early hours of the morning a person was using drugs in a hallway and somehow started a fire. Most of the apartments were undamaged but the main hallway and entrance were completely destroyed.

This is becoming a big problem in the area, cold and winter conditions driving more homeless and drug users inside of buildings. They go into abandoned places, sneak into hallways and staircases of apartment buildings and wreak havoc. If it's not defecating everywhere, it is leaving piles of garbage and needles. Or smoking and setting off fire alarms or intentionally/unintentionally starting fires and cause a lot of damage (there have been 5 buildings burnt to the ground in the last 2 weeks).

Thankfully we have first responders like these to ensure the damage does not get worse!
