Old Trolley, New Technology

in Photography Lovers3 years ago (edited)

Good morning, early bees!

This is a very typical Trolley in San Francisco. Or at least it was, when I was there... These sort of buses look quite old but they had been renewed and they were very clean for the environment. This photo was taken a long time ago... and 11 years later, most cities in the world still have buses with worse technology than this. Incredible, isn't it?

The people in San Francisco were always a bit ahead of the rest of the world, when it comes to gadgets, computers and technology. It's not at random that one of the largest IT Startup hubs in the world is located in this city.

After decades of not caring and destroying the environment, it seems that the politicians nowadays are looking for a drastic change of direction. Many of you have surely heard about ... The Great Reset, right?

This is the name that politicians and business leaders have came up with as a plan to rebuild society and the economy in a more sustainable way after the COVID-19 pandemic. I am very sceptical of this... since these guys had decades to act and they did nothing at all. People usually don't change, so why would they? 🙄

This crazy pandemic way of life is affecting us all... but if something good comes out of it, that would ease my mind. So far, it seems that there are only negative aspects about it. Let's see if things get better soon. Both for us... and for the planet we live in.

We had trams years ago, all ripped out now replaced with normal buses which more the pity since the trams I saw throughout Europe run frequently carrying many people saving on fuel.

Nice photograph of tram in San Francisco, sometimes we move forward then back again!

As for reat Reset and Pandemic, "No Comment", not yet, loads of theories and under handed thoughts travel faster than the internet of late.

Ehehehhe! That big Casino in the photo seems to have been reset already. According to Google Maps, the Casino is no more. And The Blue Macaw right next to it had the same fate. 🤭

I'm glad you like the photo!

Much will change going online, new technology these big buildings will become a thing of the past.

Hi There!
Good to see You!
They had the same buses in Germany in the 70's,
Probably in some places still.
Have a Very Blessed Mid-Week!
👍🏼😊🌴😊👍🏼

Were they "Zero Emissions Vehicles", too? 😀

Thanks for the visit and comment.

Absolutely!
Yes they were, but did have an engine to drive out to the cables or manuver around.
You have a great Day!
👍🏼😊👍🏼

Sorry, out of BEER, please retry later...

I recognize that trolley! Good morning @trincowski. Don't be a stranger.

Hey there! Yeah, I have been making some longer breaks here at St... I mean Hive. It's difficult to keep inventing new stuff to post when we're all locked up in our own houses. 🙄

We came one state over to North Carolina last night. This state is so much different than Tennessee. Locked the fuu... down! <-- lower than that.

There are trolleybuses in San Francisco.
This is a surprise to me

I don't know how it is at the moment, but yeah, there used to be a lot of them! 😉

I have always imagined the San Francisco trolley system to be something unlike anything I’ve seen before. It makes much more sense than having buses driving around everywhere. I mean they both are in a route, why not have trolleys instead.

I too am hoping things get better rather than worse ASAP.

Hello there! Thanks for your comment! How are things where you live in?

I live in West Virginia.
Most people ride the public buses if they don't have their own car.

Yay! 🤗
