Solace Series: Water

This series features some of my photographs of water. Whether it's capturing water close up or far away, I've always been drawn to photographing water, waterfalls, waves, etc. Not only are these some of my favorite photographs, but they're some of my favorite places, places where I can escape from the craziness of the world and let the important things come back into focus. Hope you enjoy.

The Offering
This photo is somewhat contrived as I took the rose and placed it in a swimming pool, waded into the water and captured this. I like how the rose seems to be suspended in air, but if you look closely, you can see the reflection on the water.

The Dunes
After taking this photo of the Chesapeake Bay, I couldn't help but feel like the ripples and waves looked like a vast desert. I played with the colors a bit to reinforce that feel.

The Waterfall
My partner and I took a trip out to Tennessee and hiked the Great Smoky Mountains just outside of Gatlinburg. We walked across a wooden bridge and I had to stop to grab this shot. I love the fantasy and secluded feel of this one.

The Catch
I loved capturing this moment as these two boaters fished at sunset on Kent Island, Maryland (USA). Sunsets here were always my favorite.

Before Sunset
I walked out just as the sun was setting to capture this. The waves crashed against the rock and sprayed me with water, but it was worth it.

Lightning on the Water
This was 90% luck and 10% persistence. It took hundreds of shots to get the right one, just as the lightning bolt stretched through the sky. I was so happy when I looked at the camera and saw that I had finally captured a bolt (after hundreds of failures). This was a fun storm to watch.

The Freeze
Last winter, a storm hit the eastern shore and I took that opportunity to go out and capture some fun ice formations. Here, icicles hung from the dock and created ripples below.

These are super cool. "The offering" is my favorite. The shot with the reflection looks almost like digital art - and the washed out greys in the background make the flower pop really nicely.

I agree with Bertimis, i think the offering is my favorite. Though they all have a beauty of their own. Keep up the great work.

Thanks @castleberry :) appreciate it!
