Hello everyone! I'm excited to share an experience from my trip to the Valdesia Dam reservoir. Looking back, this adventure combined work, nature, and discovery in ways I'll never forget.
I was looking for the perfect place to share this experience, and I believe this community is ideal. Here, we can not only talk about our professional experiences and achievements, but also highlight the sense of adventure and fun, reminding ourselves that not everything has to be work.
Located in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, marked the beginning of a month full of work. To get there, we took the main road from Santo Domingo to San Cristóbal, heading toward Cambita Garabitos, passing through roads surrounded by vegetation, small communities, and landscapes that heightened our anticipation to discover the place. Although the journey was not very long, every curve and every detail of the surroundings gave us hints that the experience ahead would be worth it.
Arriving at the villa (Green Lake Ecolodge), where we would stay, was simply wonderful. Cozy and surrounded by lush greenery, it offered direct views of the dam’s vast body of water and the mountains that frame it. Every morning, the songs of birds and the cool breeze would greet us, reminding us we were in a unique place, perfect for combining work and adventure.
What caught my attention first was the calm of the water and the vastness of the landscape. The dam was not just a project; it was a living scene, with birds, fish, and vegetation that invited us to respect and care for the environment. The local community also welcomed us warmly, showing their kindness and willingness to help, which made the start of our work much more pleasant.
The first day was marked by feelings of awe and admiration. As we organized our tools and planned our work, I couldn’t stop looking around, mentally noting every detail: the sun’s reflections on the water, the murmur of nearby streams, and the changing colors of the vegetation. Every element seemed to be part of a natural, perfect, and harmonious painting.
That’s how our adventure in Valdesia began—a month of hard work, but also discovery and learning. The expectations we carried when we arrived blended with the constant wonder of being surrounded by such beauty.
And although we thought we had already seen all the impressive sights the dam had to offer, we would soon realize that the most surprising corners and the most memorable experiences were yet to be discovered. What secrets and adventures would await us in the coming days? Don’t miss Part II of this series, where I will share how free time between work turned into a true exploration adventure.
