"Another day, another dollar" ... right? That used to be my saying till I got injured by my own stupidity then further complicated by a system to which time is against me. Taking the only option I have now due to technicalities, empowering myself!
I have now run out my 15 weeks of Medical EI and feel as if I have fallen between the cracks of the Canadian Medical system. I do not qualify for EI as the doctor has yet to give permission to work. I also do not qualifying for CPP as the same doctor does not believe my condition no longer count for indefinite showing signs of recovery. This situation leaves me in a place of not being legally allowed to work for my current employer till the doctor gives me permission while not qualifying for either forms of support income support available.
Solution, self employment. I have thanked God(yeah with a big G) countless times for my decision to try working for myself. The flexibility continuously presents solutions to troubles not previously even recognized. Such as this, what do I do when my foot swells up at a work place and the job requires me to be on my feet? Just go home? Loose pay? WTF!?! There is no "job" in the world besides one that requires me to be on my back with one leg raised that accounts for my current condition. As a self employed individual, entrepreneur, home business owner I am able to account for this condition and work around it at my own discretion.
Who knows ... I may never go back to work for the man again and it might just be time to start pinging some of our digital projects about paid positions 🤔
