When I bought this dji mini se I wish I had known about the phone issues with this drone but no one seemed to mention it? I got the fly more combo so that I could get maximum flight time from 3 batteries rather than waiting for one battery to be recharged.
Little did I know that I would spend several fruitless hours trying to get the dji fly app to work on half a dozen different smartphones only to find out that none of them where compatible with the dji mini se drone.
I think that this information should be more explicit on the Dji website and I'm pretty sure that many people have bought this drone without thinking that they may also need to buy another phone to fly it? Why would anyone think that they would need another phone? It's just an app right?
You can check on the Dji website to see if your smartphone is compatible before you get one of these drones but in all honesty the number of smartphones that are supported is tiny in comparison to the number of smartphones that are out there in the world.
To fly this drone you will need a smartphone with a 64 bit chip and a 64 bit operating system.
If you have a brand new smartphone do not assume it will work there is no guarantee that it will work with this drone. Do check the dji website first.
I ended up buying and iPhone 8 plus to run as a controller after testing the drone with an iPhone 10 both of which were listed as compatible on the Dji website.
Without the smartphone connected to the controller you cannot see what you are filming and have no control over the drone as it is trying to pair to a smartphone so having the right phone with the right spec is super important.
On a more positive note. The dji mini se drone flies beautifully with no problems and the battery life is good. I got over 20 minutes of flight time with each battery with 25% battery left after I finished each flight.

Check with your local drone laws before buying any drone.

im using iphone se2020 as my personal phone, but flying with my 4 years old android phone, no cose connectivity problem, but i like bigger screen and its annoying getting notifications from FB, insta, ect. when u flying, so dats why im not using personal phone.

I haven't even got a sim card in my iPhone 8+. I really don't want notifications going off in the middle of a flight 🤦♂️😂👍🏼

Heck yeah! I am going to wait till next year to get one. My buddy runs a drone company and is all I tot he FPV world so I actually want to build my own with him. He 3D prints custom parts and all kind of stuff. He is FlyHighFPV on Instagram. I started him a Hive account but he never uses it, lol.
