Nigerian Gospel Music Lyrics are So Sexual!

in Rant, Complain, Talk2 years ago (edited)

Nigerian music is taking over the globe! I'm sure by now everybody knows that. We see Nigerian music being played all over the world and on social media it is danced to in videos from about every single country in the world. Just like how reggae music which originated from Jamaica in the 60s took the world by storm later in the century.

We'll talk more about the prowess of Nigerian music but for now let me narrow down and tell you about a specific section of the Nigerian music industry - the gospel section! Overhearing these Nigerian gospel songs as I live my life in Nigeria has made me come to the realization that these songs are so sexual.

Gospel music is supposed to be about praise and worship to the Christian God and it's not the christian practice to turn God on or carry out sexual rituals or anything, so why are the singers getting so sexual in their songs?

1.

The first song in our case study is this overly popular Nigerian gospel song tittled "Bend low". Do you see? Just from the name you're already catching the sexual vibe. Now this is how the lyrics of the song goes:

Bend low (× 7)
And see what the Lord can do oooo
Bend low (× 7)
And see what the Lord can do.

This song is sold to us as a song that is simply meant to encourage you to dance for the Lord, but why say it like that? Why put it like that? "Bend low and see what the Lord can do?" That sounds like something a guy who's trying to convince a girl to show him some parts would say. Bend low and see what I'll do, bend low and see the reward I'll give you.

I can almost picture the lord sitting down, stroking himself while watching some girl stripping reluctantly and the Lord's manservant encourages the girl by saying "bend low and see what the lord can do. If you make him happy you have no idea what he can do for you".

🤦🏾‍♂️

2.

The second song is another overly popular one titled "Ekwueme". It is sang by a woman. Look at the lyrics:

You are the living God o
Eze no one like you
No one can do me like you do
No one can touch me like you do God eh
You are the living God o
Eze no one like you.

"No one can do me like you do,
No one can touch me like you do"
seriously? Like seriously? I mean seriously?

"Do you", "touch you". There's nothing you can tell me. You're talking about sex here, you're sexual obsessed with God, and I pray that may the good lord foreplay you forgive you. Amen.

3.

The third song is this one titled "you are all that matters". It is sang by a man. Here are the lyrics:

I'll make room for two
You and I Jesus..
I'll put you in front..

What is this for crying out loud? You'll make room for two, only you and Jesus. What do you need all that privacy for? Why do you need to be behind closed doors with Jesus just the two of you? Tell me!

Also what do you mean by putting him in front? Oh, you'll put him in front while you stay behind isn't it? There's a name for that, bro, it's called a doggystyle! You put the person in front stay behind and hit it from behind. Remember it is sang by a man. And I have no problem with being gay but why would you want to sodomize Jesus? Why would you want to sodomize your Lord? Are the holes in his hands not enough?

You're so wrong for this 😄 Now I'll never listen to these songs the same way again.

Hahahaha 😂. Glad I couldn't help.

Yeah the horse shit that’s played on radios or mainstream stuff is mostly garbage no matter what genre of music it is. There’s a lot of interest in keeping people in a certain state of mind and sexualizing it all is definitely an agenda for no good reason. It’s good that you’ve seen through the bullshit! I haven’t seen any Nigerian music but I don’t listen to most of the stations that would play it anyway lol.
