The other day I got a message on Instagram from some random who wanted to draw me a logo for our account, @roving_tracks. I get them all the time. When I check out their profiles, they very rarely match what I'd like for our logo, so I always say no. Some I just don't trust, which is fair in the online world.
Anyway, this guy was pretending to be @the.over.landdesign. I really love their illustrations. I was fooled for a minute. He'd offered me an illustration for a reasonable price. Except there was this nagging feeling that something wasn't right, and with a little investigation, found out it was a copy account, and he was scamming me. I mean, the guy could probably draw, and maybe I was going to get a cool illustration, but I thought it was just so dishonest to ride off someone else's fame that I confronted him about it.
Of course, the usual guilt tripping ensued - that I was taking advantage of him when he'd done half the drawing already and blah blah blah. He got a bit nasty in the end. I reported him and blocked him, and made sure that the original artist knew about it. He'd been blocked of course, so the guy could avoid discovery as long as possible. I was keen to get the original guy to do it, but he's so ridiculously expensive there's no way I could afford it.
So, back to Canva it was. I like this design - the topography and the font is good in my opinion. The car, however, is simply done with the background remover tool, when I'd prefer an illustration. I've also done it in the wrong size - the quality wouldn't make a good sticker.
So, over to Hive. Is there anyone interested in creating a logo for me? Of course, I'd be happy to pay in HIVE or HBD, or if you like, I can use Paypal for the currency of your choice. Hopefully you understand a little about design - and 4x4 vehicles and overlanding - so you can get the right vibe.
I had no idea what community to put this in, so decided on rant/complain/TALK - it is a bit of a complaint, after all, haha. And certainly a talk! I don't even know what art communities are busy on Hive anymore - please let me know if you know!

I for sure don't have the skills to make any type of logo, but just wanted to let you and your husband know that you folks have done one hell of a job restoring your Land Rover. I couldn't imagine what a project like this would cost if you had someone do all of the work.

Yeah it is Plus accounts only. Supposedly they will be making some of the custom models available for free use but not yet. So yeah no free version.
I have been looking into building another one that is not on their platform... but nothing really compares to what they offer at the moment.
PS Totally pay an artist! I was just playing with the image generator to see what it would do.

I do play around with Midjourney a bit and utilise Chat GPT for heaps of things but it kinda feels wrong in this case.
I have not done anything with Midjourney yet. Gonna have to see what it can do. I have 'been in deep' with ChatGPT since the beta and it sure is handy!

Cool. I mainly like the Plus (pro) account because of the 'Custom Instructions' feature and GPT-4 is much better at coding than GPT-3.5. The file upload/download feature is also super handy.
Being a rather frugal person I had a hard time convincing myself to shell out the twenty bucks each month... but whoa that twenty bucks is peanuts compared to how much time it saves me on various projects.
That really does put it in perspective. I’m going to shell out, coding assistance is needed with the workload we have this coming year.
Give it a spin! I still use GPT-3.5 Turbo for some things (especially conceptual ideas and thought experiments in software) but GPT-4 is just way better at coding itself.

Looks like you might have already gotten a logo sent to you, but if not, I’ll have a crack at it. I’m a little busy at the moment, but I’ll try to draw something up within a week or two.
What is overlanding, and what kind of images would go along with it? Do you want sand in the background, water, a mix of both?

Hopefully you can get a logo made! I don’t have the time or skill to make one but I do know someone who might be interested. He’s pretty good at computer art things but I don’t know if he does things like this.
