Upgrade your problems

yup, I was thinking about my problems here

Here’s an interesting thought I had yesterday:

Don’t try to solve your problems, substitute them with better ones.

As humans, we often get fixated on “fixing” problems, but the truth is, life itself is a problem, and I know this even more as a Nigerian, not only because at one point, the most popular song in the country was quite literally a song about the infinite nature of problems, ironically titled, No Wahala. As long as you’re alive, you’ll always have one. The real game is not elimination but substitution, replacing smaller, limiting problems with bigger, more meaningful ones.

Think about it. At one point, you were trekking from bus stop to bus stop wishing you had a car. Then you finally got one, and suddenly you had to deal with traffic, fuel scarcity, and repairs. Upgrade to a private jet, and now your worries become landing rights, regulations, and maintenance costs. Same cycle different scale. At one point in your life, you wished you were where you currently are, and here you are, completely ignoring the growth and wishing for an even bigger place (don't worry, you've not lost your mind yet. Give it time). Take me for example. Last year, I had a problem- I was overweight and not very fit, then I got the push I needed and, fast forward a couple months. Albeit, I'm still overweight, but in a much better place. In the best shape I've ever being in my life. Now my problems are -
  • hitting my protein goals everyday
  • showing up to the gym even when I don't feel like it
  • eating what a family of four would ideally eat
  • doing laundry always
  • all my pants and briefs don't fit anymore (this is a genuine problem btw)
The point is this: instead of asking, “How do I fix this problem?” ask, “How do I make this a better one?” Because struggling to attract 100 customers is a problem. Managing a million customers? Still a problem, but is sure as hell a much better one. Growth isn’t the absence of problems, it’s the quality of the problems you choose to have.

Oh, here's the classic. Enjoy.😉
