Who doesn't think this way? Who doesn't remember the last time something went perfectly, or that somehow what our mind had projected ended up happening, or that somehow, something that didn't even seem related ended up happening.
Today I complete another trip around the sun. My ATH!
Those who know me well know that I'm not a very negative person, but that I don't get upset if I'm not remembered, or if people don't remember me, or even my birthday.
A few weeks ago, in one of my WhatsApp groups, one of the members challenged the others to organize a Christmas dinner in Porto. Everyone in the group, except me, lives nearby. And all of you who celebrate this date in some way know very well that as we enter the final stretch of the last thirty-odd days until the end of the year, dinners, celebrations, lunches, snacks, and other tasks pile up, and our schedules become increasingly cluttered, practically jam-packed with events.
And this is even more true for those who have children, which is not my case. For those who have children, there are also events with the grown-ups, as well as with the children (at school, sports clubs, friends, etc.)... A myriad of tasks that we would never have thought we would be invited to.
I confess that sometimes it feels good to stay at home, without much to do (planned) and depending only on our own will.
But when it comes to these gatherings, which only happen once a year, they become more and more valuable. It certainly has to do with the way we increasingly view life. We value the simplest things more, and often those things are priceless.
I was telling you that this weekend I went to Porto for our annual dinner with friends. Everything went very well. It was good to see old friends again and see how the children have grown since last year.
If we think about it, humanity has always celebrated the gift of life with food and gatherings around a table. I think there is nothing more enjoyable than sharing a pleasant meal in good company. With joy and lots of laughter.
There was also time, at the end of dinner, just at midnight, to sing happy birthday. It felt good to celebrate my birthday in their company. This Christmas dinner had never fallen on the eve of my birthday before, but this year I had the pleasure of hearing them sing happy birthday.
This morning, I left Porto early by train, heading home. I had arranged to have a snack with my mother and brother. We went to a well-known pastry shop near our house, which has some very famous croissants, renowned for being undercooked and generously covered with sugar and sugar syrup. A real calorie bomb!
My cell phone was turned off for most of the day because the battery was dead, and in the afternoon and evening, even though I had turned it back on, I was unable to answer it and respond to all the messages I received throughout the day, but I will definitely do so now... It feels great to celebrate another year of my existence, to celebrate the gift of life, with health and joy.
In my opinion, the best thing we have is health. Of course, money is also important, but if we don't have health, money is of little use to us, except to provide us with more comfort.
Sorry for the “old man” talk in my daily post today. I hope that the last month of the year will bring us the opportunity to do everything we committed to doing eleven months ago and have yet to accomplish.
