My new Adidas sneakers... or not!

For a few months now, I've unfortunately noticed that the sneakers I wear practically all day, and almost every day of the week... Yes, it's true! They're reaching the end of their useful life. I'm a guy who doesn't care much for having a lot of things, or clothes, but when I do buy, I like to have clothes that will last me a while. I can tell you that these sneakers surely have more than 2 thousand kilometers on their soles... They've been with me for over 3 years now. They've been on my feet for most of the Camino de Santiago, they've been to several European countries, including the last HiveFest I attended (Amsterdam)... I miss them. But the point has come where I have to say goodbye to them, or save them only for walking from home to the gym (1.9 kilometers x 2= 3.8 kilometers). I think it was the first time I bought shoes online... I've always been a bit picky when it comes to the materials used, and the feel and way of putting them on, but I was looking at the sneakers that were on sale, and I found these Alpahboost v1 for 72€, where the original price is 120€... I thought it was a good option, and I ended up paying for them with my PayPal account. The balance I have in that account is all from the studies I took part in on the Prolific platform. Do any of you know this platform? It's impressive! Even though I've been registered on that platform for over 3 years, and have already answered around 797 surveys, I've managed to raise over 1100 pounds!

There are studies that are a bit more “boring” than others, but the ones that require more concentration or attention in their submission end up being studies that often pay more than 5 pounds for just over 3 minutes of our time... I think it's a good way of making money, and not difficult.

Well, I ended up ordering the sneakers, which were delivered to my workplace, free of charge. As soon as I tried them on when I got home, I realized that they weren't as comfortable as the ones I had (Boost technology). Although they also had this technology associated with them, the sole was more rigid, which made the heel move out of position very easily.

In the end, I didn't lose anything as I returned them the same week. I took the opportunity to wash my old Adidas, and ended up putting a stitch in the toecap of the broken one! Ahahah Let's see how long they last!

With this experience, I've convinced myself once and for all that I'm not an online clothes shopper... For me, there's nothing like trying things on in a physical store and feeling how I feel. You could say I'm a bit old-fashioned, couldn't you? Do you still go to physical stores to buy your clothes?

At the end of the experience, I realized that there are many more discounts in online stores, because they end up shipping the products from abroad, getting better prices than in the official brand stores.

I still haven't given up looking for replacements for the best pair of sneakers I've ever owned.... Why is it so hard nowadays to find sneakers that are not only beautiful but also comfortable?

Hahaha... This really is a useful post!... I also have some Adidas sneakers that are almost 4 years old!!!! ;) Thanks for sharing! ;)

I just love my old Adidas... they're so comfy, and with the Boost technology sole, they're real "slippers"!

As a sneaker madame myself I must admit that all of those sneakers at the moment are not the ones that tend to have the 'longest' life. As in...if your foot is a little bit off, they will deteriorate just super fast.

personally big nike air max fan here, way overpriced but they last a really long time as well. Love new balance as well also for the concept behind it, but those ones fall apart so fast :(

I checked the prolific thingy because I like the survey concept....waitlist now!

The Porlific system is simply fantastic! And knowing that I'm answering surveys that can be used to publish work, or to help develop certain areas of science, gives me greater motivation.

As for sneakers, I'll have to keep looking... Who knows, one of these days I might come across a pair that I fall completely in love with!

Wao, this has really worked for you so well. It's good you were able to do some survey to be able to accumulate this account you have. I have once tried doing some surveys also but it keeps trying as I don't really get my hand over it. But I am amazed to see this you said.. Probably you can put me through.

There's an extension you can install on your browser that alerts you when a study is available. In my case, it helped me a lot, because there were studies that were available, and because I didn't have the Prolific tab open, I didn't realize they were available.

Ohh! Probably I will look into that. Do you have other ones you do aside prolific?

Yes, I respond to some Portuguese inquerires, that revert in to "points" that can be exchanged by products. I mostly exchange them for great perfumes (popular brand ones)

Wao! That's good my friend, it good you get perfumes. And it will make you saint nice.

Completely @the-lead !

👍👍👍 enjoy

Completely agree with you there man. I can buy some shirts online or pants but never shoes unless I’m buying the same shoe again from previous purchase. I need to be able to wear them on my foot to see if they are comfortable or not before making the purchase! Glad you saved some money and repaired the old ones!

I already know of an outlet just over 30 kilometers away that might have Adidas UltraBoost... Let's see if I can get there by the weekend and be lucky enough to find a pair in my size! You could say I'm old-fashioned, really. Online shopping for clothes doesn't work for me at all!

That old one held up pretty nicely despite being used everyday for 3 years! Some of my shoes before give up easily, especially those rubber part on the soles they just separate lol.

It's quite hard for me to buy shoes online because I found the sizes to be very inconsistent despite the "universal sizes"... so I don't do it as much. But when I do, I have to get a ruler and measure my feet manually and choose the sizes according to the in/cm they have, and not the standard "sizes".

Maybe you'll see the exact same shoes on sale next time or a new one in the same series or something. I do agree it is better to shop in physical stores but that will cost so much more.

Perhaps in the next few days I'll be able to visit an outlet 30 kilometers from my home. I've been told that they often have some Adidas UltraBoost models available! I'm crossing my fingers.
