SHOPPING FOR A SPECIAL DINNER---#MARKET FRIDAY

in Market Friday2 years ago

It's hard to believe we are here again, on the verge of a brand-new year. 2022, is that right? Let me think on that for a minute, ok, I just broke out the new calendar I got for free from Oxford Academy & Central School. I guess they are celebrating 228 years of educational service, the school system was established in 1794, according to my free 2022 calendar.

To bring in the new year the first thing that pops into my head is really good food and some kind of champagne, it doesn't need to be expensive, it only needs a good pop!

I hopped in my car by 10am and traveled to the big city of Norwich, I am joking about the big part, I would say it's a medium city, nah, small but oh so lovely to shop, we can get almost everything we need there.

First stop, my favorite wine shop.

Dom is a little too rich for my thirst. I did enjoy these beautifully decorated bottles.

This place may be small, but what a selection.

Now onto the second stop.

This is quite a big grocery store that has an onsite bakery and a wonderful fish market. It has a fairly nice line of organic foods and wild caught fish. We will not buy farm raised fish, but farm raised chicken and pork, no problem. Since we grow most of our veggies, I only need fresh produce for our raw food intake and it's nice to know this store carries most of what I need.

Sea See food, eat food.

Sending the love out there to all my #hive friends.

Now to my very special girlfriend @dswigle, thanks for all you contribute to the communities you serve. @alwaysaflower is never far from my heart.

First time in four years that my Christmas cactus bloomed.

I told you it's going to be the best year e-v-e-r!

I hope I can make midnight.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Found something that popped at the right price 😂prices are crazy and going up steeply here as well.

Fresh Salmon or Trout in the fish looks yummy, something that pops my bubble every time I look at the price I weep!

Everything of the best for 2022 to yourself and hubby.

Good day @joanstewart, yup, price of everything is going up . I try to buy extra when something is on sale and stockpile for down the road. Problem with that is storing it, my pantry is stuffed, I told the sweed to build more shelves, so now we have to spend money and time to save money and time. Oh man, we can't win.
Happy and healthy New Year to you and the family, let's hope for a better year.

Join the squirrel clan, I too stock up as much as possible when pricing is lower, never low only lower 🙂.

Solution to problem, tell Sweed you will put up the shelving he can do cooking for a month...., just saying!

Oh have fun, life is so short, let 2022 come wrapped and packed with surprises, enjoyable ones of course.

Fat chance Bob will trade for cooking, he hates it. Shelves it is, but with our to do list, it probably won't happen until the summer. oh well, I'll stuff the crap in somewhere😁😂🤣

Stacking and packing, always an art of getting more in especially when you preserving/buying for cold months to avoid having to go out. Little birdie tells me you will find a way Robin.

Then it the case now where did I put it? 😆 perhaps there is something Bob can do... Have a fun day no matter.

We used to have a Price Chopper here decades back and it was our store of choice. None closer than Vt now. Love your flower! Happy New Year!

My pleasure, good luck with the project.

Norwich is so small, isn't it? Only a couple of miles at best! But, a cute little town and Sweet Jesus! Look at how the prices keep rising! We need to rectify this trend pronto! Did you stay up past midnight? Tell the truth :) No shame in nodding off.

But, if you did, you missed out on some good kissing. Mwah! You are such a darling woman, sending me a #MarketFriday AND that #alwaysaflower cactus. I wonder why it bloomed? It must be a sign!! Yes?

Happy New Year to you!! We made it to the other side! Thank you for posting into the #MarketFriday challenge. I know this is an especially busy time of year, so I am pleased that you took the time. To be honest with you, it touches my heart that it has continued for so long, and yet, almost every single person gives me something fresh and interesting. Many people really thought it would run its course of markets and end, but, everyone that participates has proven this theory wrong. With Christmas just past and New Year upon us, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping make this challenge a success. Without your help, it would be just another place to post. It is people like you that have given it a recognizable name. Thank you!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!
