It was the day I brought my Aunt to Mini UTC Sentul renew her Identification Card, and then when I asked her whether she wanted to buy anything from market, she said yes. Off we went to two markets; one was the wet market at ground floor of Mini UTC Sentul, another market at nearby my area called Genting Kelang Wet Market.
1. Market UTC Sentul
Address: Jalan 3/48a, Bandar Baru Sentul, 51000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
It was my first time here to this market as I seldom came this far to buy things because my area itself has a lot of markets. We were here at 3rd floor, so might as well buy our vegetables here. It has two sides of market, one is for wet market, one for dry market.
I couldn't help but kept smiling when this vendor purposely posed for me. He saw me taking photo of the wet market and asked was it my first time there. I replied, "Yes". Then he asked me to take photo of him. So adorable. His stall sells pineapple and stinky beans, we called it 'petai'. But, both my Aunt and I did not want to buy pineapples and 'petai', so this photo of him was precious.
The wet market are is so spacious. So many stalls. Being our first time here, we needed to walk around to see the stalls one by one. My Aunt walked so fast. She was looking for vegetables stalls. Haha. So I quickly took photos of the stalls here, stalls with chicken and fish and other seafood.
Spotted this young man selling fresh fish with joy. I just loved it when I noticed people are happy doing their daily job. "Love the life you live and live the life you love." ❤️
Okay, so my Aunt found all the vegetables stalls, right at the end. When I reached her, she had started choosing her vegetables. So many vegetables stalls here, I wondered how was the competition. Was there any? Or all sells harmoniously.
I also took some time to pick the vegetables and fruit I needed before my Aunt disappeared due to her fast action.
In the center of the wet market, there stood a stall which sells clothes like briefs and panties, towels, bedsheets, and accessories like necklace, bracelets, amulets. Some of the batik clothes are very beautiful.
We walked towards the dry area which is even more spacious than the wet area. My Aunt had nothing else to buy so she kept walking further away from me. I quickly took some photos below. So, I didn't get to slowly have a look at all the stalls here. Maybe next time I shall come here with my husband. He would understand I love to explore and slowly took my time to capture photos. I knew my Aunt needed to go home soon to cook.
Then, I spotted a fruit stall and remembered I needed to buy banana. So many fruits here, I could tell the fruits were fresh.
My Aunt and I were walking towards the car and spotted this shop selling innerwears.
My purchase at UTC Sentul:
Tomatoes, lettuce, cauliflower and banana. Total RM10, super duper cheap!!!
2) Genting Klang Wet Market
On the way home, in my car, I recalled my Aunt always needed to take bus to come to this market to buy pork. She loves to buy pork here so I quickly asked her whether she needed pork. She said yes. Off I turned into this wet market. Also my first time her but not her first time. She comes here weekly to do her marketing.
After I found a car park at the road side, very fast like a flash, my Aunt had crossed the road. This is a huge market, most people stay at this vicinity come here for breakfast, and then will start to buy their weekly fresh produce and meat. I did not get to explore this market at all because our goal was to head to the section selling pork. Usually, it would be more hidden, like behind a wall or inside a compartment, due to halal thing in our country. My Aunt already knew well where was that section and I obediently followed.
Here we were at the pork stall and the Seller immediately called her. Regular customer. She ordered pork belly while I ordered 1kg of soup bones.
Right opposite this pork shop, another Uncle was selling roasted pork belly and BBQ pork belly. Once I saw it, I was drooling. Then, I got jackpot because my Aunt suddenly said she wanted to buy roasted pork belly for my family. Wow!!!
As we walked out towards my car, I managed to snap some photos.
Suddenly, my Aunt stopped at bun's stall, said she wanted to buy some buns for the children.
The items I got from this market :
Pork soup bones:
Roasted pork belly:
Buns and biscuits:
It was a different experience going to markets with my Aunt. A few lessons I learned that day was :-
- Always stay focused. Only buy what you needed. Don't get side track.
- The older you are, the faster you can walk. (she really walks very fast)
- Always make friends with vendor, friends get friends' special price.
Thank you @dswigle aka Denise for creating this space #MarketFriday for us to share our market or purchase experience and knowledge. I hope you enjoyed touring the markets here as well as learning some new stuff from my Aunt. 😁

Awwwnnnn... I love that vendor that asked you to take a shot of him .. I am sure you were grinning from ear to ear in happiness as you granted his request.
Haha. Yess, he is so friendly and jovial. And welcoming.
The rest was looking at with suspicious face. 😂
