Colours, stalls and people...

in Market Friday9 months ago (edited)

There is a common thing for a few little towns in this area: from time to time they organize Medieval Markets. They usually last for two (or sometimes three days), held mainly on weekends. A cultural offer that can bring more tourists to the town for those days and visitors from the surroundings. We are in that second group - just regular visitors from a nearby town that spent one Sunday afternoon in April strolling through Villajoyosa.

The town's streets were decorated and obviously, much more people were in the streets than usual. Ok, depends on the street as just a few minutes away we passed through this one. A completely empty street:

The reason is that everyone was in the main square, on the Medieval market or on the promenade. We also walked a bit around, waiting to see the results of a weather battle. Who would win? Mister Sun or Mister Rain?

In the end, none of them won this battle. It just stayed cloudy during the whole afternoon.

Before we get to the market I would like to show you what the town looks like and I can do it through this mural. The old part of the town consists of narrow streets and tall houses, each one painted in a different colour. Villajoyosa is famous for this colourful detail.

More murals... a tired (or maybe sleepy or sad?) man, with a hat hiding his face, was sitting in one corner...

IMG_20230430_190858.jpg

In another corner there were children, playing with marbles. They were happier and more active. Maybe these were scenes from the past, representing the daily life of this settlement. Children should be happy everywhere and at any time, could this be a possible message of the artist who pained it?

IMG_20230430_190849.jpg

But this is not a post about the town itself and about murals. We are heading toward the market. A colourful scene is what is waiting for us and not just the houses brought colours but the people, selling stalls and decorations.

We could see artisanal wood items, jewellery, clothes, cosmetics, buy food or beverages, but the most interesting (for me) was the setting. Those stalls and the whole ambience. The idea of organizing these Medieval markets in different towns (we already visited a similar one in this post. That other one was held in Finestrat.

Some details from the selling stalls...

From this one, I bought myself a bracelet which has blue and red beads. The first one (from the left), in the second row. I am wearing it many times 😇

This is the section of Ayurvedic solid shampoos and soaps. Now when I see the pink rosehip soap I remember I should use this or a similar one for a scar I have.

The wooden handmade items... I liked the bookmarks, the first one reminds us of enjoying ourselves and every moment we have and the second one says: If you want adventure, start reading.

IMG_20230430_191207.jpg

On the same stall, there were musical signs. Do you see this treble clef? What is wrong with it, do you know?

IMG_20230430_191057.jpg

I think it is an easy question, but if you get tired while finding it out what is wrong with this musical sign, please make yourself comfortable with one of these cool cushions.

I really like the murals that are all over the city, the photos are beautiful, it is always a pleasure to read you. a greeting and happy day.

Though we can always find some graffiti that are not so nice, these murals were indeed colourful and nice :)

Yes, I think so.

What a beautiful village and I love the medieval market, especially the wooden items and the cushions. Walking through those streets... I could imagine myself there, how nice it felt to travel to that place and you could even feel the smell of mandarin and the essences.

Beautiful market, thank you very much @mipiano ❤️

I noticed that here they like to organize there types of markets. Have you seen them around Málaga too?

Medieval markets, in the 5 years I've been here, no, not one, I wish they were here!

What they do have are the usual street markets in certain neighbourhoods on certain days, or now that the fair has started.

I love the medieval, I love it!

Lovely colors, houses and places and Things to buy. !LUV

Yep, it was cool to stroll there 😇

The treble clef is on the bottom right when it should be on the left.

Finestrat (1 hive?)

Sí, he visto que usas la pulsera.

;)

Mi reino no es lo que tengo, sino lo que hago.

Esto me ha encantado, @mipiano.

On the other hand, this post has been like a déjà vu, por el edit.

I like so much everything I see in what you write... It is always an adventure to read you. En español, ese mensaje rima. Si quieres aventura, lánzate a la lectura {jajaja}. En inglés no rima.

I won't do the story here (about details), in fact, I never do it because those details that I like to look at and that not everyone sees, I want them just for me.

(I'm like Smeagol, 😂 My treasure)

Haha, not just me edited here 😂

Yeah, that inscription on the wood is awesome (usaste lupa para poder leerlo? es tan pequeñito) y también es verdad que queda mejor en español que en inglés, lo de la aventura y lectura ;)

Smeagol?

🤣

😂 es My Precious jajaja ... Sí, Smeagol, el feo de El Señor de los Anillos.
Morning!!! :)

Everything is to my taste.☝️
Great!
👋

Glad you liked this market :)

Oh oh! That turquoise pillow on the last photo... <3
I would so get myself comfy with it :D

All the cushions are nice, but turquoise, blue and red ones give the best vibes 😋

Have you tried that solid shampoo thing? I've seen some videos about it, but that's not something we'll see in this country anytime soon.

It's lovely to have these kind of venues to get some cool photos and see some crafts.

I didn't try here but many years ago my mother bought one in a crafts market. It was awesome for the skin and all the acne she had on her back disappeared. Later we bought other soaps but have never found the same one, that one which was the best.

I see. Well, at least it yielded good results. Too bad it has disappeared.

These places are very beautiful and the old maps and buildings are more beautiful and strong than what we see in the pictures. Have your own fun.

I love this medieval market. There are really interesting items to see. Love the colorful cushions. Even the stalls are well decorated and colorful.

The cushions... would be nice having one or two in the corner of the couch 🛋

I enjoyed going to places surrounded by colors and art..it gives me a vibe of festive celebration.. Just like this place.. I would surely enjoy wandering here..

What a busy town. And the arts on those buildings are so pretty, another added decoration on the wall that is pleasing to the eyes. And the market, their products looks awesome too, but the soaps products has a unique color and design, I'm wondering what they used in there 🤔

There is a description for each soap, but it's in Spanish... some contain tea tree or rosehip, activated carbon, coconut oil and else. 🤓

Oh dear, the murals are lovely, I love the colorful cushions and the jewelries. Thank you for always sharing your adventures with us.

The mural was indeed so nice and actually the town is like that - so colourful!

Yeah the town looks so colorful.

I am staying at the Ayurveda cosmetics stand !!!!....
The tail of the treble clef is upside down ???

Greetings from Havana, which doesn't have medieval markets but is going backwards towards the Middle Ages 🤗

That stand was cool, with Ayurveda cosmetics :)

Sí, la clave de sol la pusieron al revés jajaja 🎼

I really love the look of those building, they look so attractive.

A perfect place for a market like this, right? :)

Yeah, actually the right place. Things look so cool here and very attractive.

Awwww, that's a place for me for sure. Jewellery, soaaaaps, those pillows!!!! 😍
By the way, what did you buy for me? 😏😂

We also walked a bit around, waiting to see the results of a weather battle. Who would win? Mister Sun or Mister Rain?

The weather forecast stone would tell you for sure 🤣

True, true, that weather forecast stone would be perfect here 😂

By the way, what did you buy for me? 😏😂

stuffed scone, but unfortunately I ate it still there on the market 😅😆

stuffed scone, but unfortunately I ate it still there on the market 😅😆

Nice friend you are!!! ☹️☹️

Maybe a lángos would be better to share one day 😊
Nothing, neither a scone can survive a three-days-long driving time from Spain 😅

lovely, it is always heartening to see a small town that makes an effort to draw in visitors and locals alike, they are deserving.

Is it a treble clef in disguise?

The treble clef is maybe in trouble 😂

😂😂😂

Beautiful scenery with the atmosphere of the city makes the market more beautiful and obviously you really enjoy

It was of course a time for enjoyment :)

It's good to see happily

I love the medieval ambience here. The colors really bring a good feeling. The murals are spectacular. Did the cloudy atmosphere bring more comfortable temperatures though?

This market happened at the end of April so it was not as warm like now, in August 😅

I love how the street is decorated and the street looks more beautiful
We decorate our streets here too but that is when we want to have a carnival or other things like that...
Nice pictures!

Usually, neither here it's decorated in this way, unless there is a celebration or a market like this one ;)

Beautiful, I really like historical markets : here in Italy in some markets there are also old crafts like blacksmith with forge and anvil to beat hot iron.
Others even have tournaments just like in the Middle Ages!
The treble clef is right, only it is necessary to turn it because it is "upside down" that way.
