RE: Donating and Charity shopping for Market Friday

in Market Friday2 years ago

what an array of charity shops. I live in a rural area beside a village of about 2500. There's a second hand shop (you'd call it a charity shop) that opened just before the pandemic hit. I've been watching them on the FB and have been really pleased how much they contribute to the community.

Yes that is one good thing about the UK, we do like supporting charities through charity shops. That is brilliant that your shop made it through the pandemic, some here could not make it. It is even better that they are contributing to your community:)

they received some donations from community groups to get started not long before the pandemic happened which likely helped and both federal and provincial government had some supports available for businesses locked down that they would have been able to access.

That is cool. We had support here for some small businesses that was dispensed from the UK government to the Scottish government for dispersal to Scottish businesses. Not all of it reached businesses, and certainly not in an expedient manner, it now transpires the SNP (Scottish National Party) Were syphoning off this money to pay for the next Independent Referendum nonsense, meanwhile some local businesses have gone to the wall!
