Hello everyone! Today I am going to share about a rice store that I went to recently. It is located in Sekinchan, Selangor, Malaysia. Sekinchan is a place where paddy fields are and therefore products related to that are sold. I found a store where all the produces of Sekinchan were being sold so people or any tourists who visit the place can buy some of them. It was fascinating so I took many picture for this week's #marketfriday tag, initiated by @dswigle.

This is the store. Covid 19 SOPs were strictly adhered and we need to scan in MySejahtera app at the time we were going. It is located in the Paddy Museum building. The museum has specific opening hours and it was close at the time my family and I went. So we got into this shop to have a look at the items they were selling.

This is how it looks inside. It was clean and everything was neatly arranged and had their own sections. Lets take a closer peek at the goods sold.

Rice

Of course the main item sold is rice! This is regular rice in the brand called Sekinchan Best which is a local produce. It contains 5% of broken rice (which is normal) and priced at an affordable rate.

This is another type of regular rice in the brand of Juara Mutiara which literally translates to Pearl Winner.

These are brown rice being sold in smaller packages on the left. I just noticed these are in the brand of the store. The ratio of cooking the rice has been specified where one cup of rice requires 2 and a half cup of water. The type of rice being displayed on the right is glutinous rice or better known as beras pulut locally. This type of rice turns out sticky when we cook it.

This is also brown rice but in a different brand of Seri Sekinchan.

This is basmati rice. This type of rice grains are long. I love the packaging with an Indian lady dancing the traditional Indian dance called Bharatanatyam. I got this to try and the rice was of good quality.

These are fragrant rice. They are usually the ones priced the highest. I tried this a few days ago. They were so fragrant and it wasn't overwhelming but rather pleasant. I loved this rice and told my family that I would like more of it the next time we visit this store. We can also mix this fragrant rice with regular rice before cooking and that way we still get some fragrant while just using half amount of what we cook.

Here's a closer look of the rice package. This is also in the brand of the store.

The rice on the left is pearl white rice, which look round. These are the ones we use to make dosa and idli batter. We call them idli rice. On the other hand, the rice on the right is pearl fragrant rice which I guess is self explanatory.

Snacks and Condiments

There were also other items in the store. Some were made using rice and others were just condiments. Check out the top row. Those are gift baskets we can buy for someone or even ourselves.

These are some food items. The one above are crispy peanut crackers. They are quite yummy. The one in the bottom are sweet and sour lime juice. It says that it helps to sooth sore throat and cough.

It got a little mixed up here. The item on top is actually a souvenir sample of rice comprising of 3 types, which are the brown rice, pearl rice and fragrant rice. In the bottom section are rice bran oils.

This is lemongrass ginger oil. It is used to make tea. It is made of Bentong ginger (Bentong is a location in Malaysia), lemongrass and rock honey.

This is a breakfast meal. I think it is like cereal.

Look at all these food items! Some of the items that I noticed are different types of canned beans, anchovies sambal, prawn sambal, and some sauce for noodles.

There many types of noodles but I took only a picture of this. The above is fine noodles or bihun in the local language,

I found this one to be interesting. I am not sure what it is but it is a snack made of pearl rice.

I found these dried paddy straws near the store.

Here's a bonus picture. I found a pineapple plant outside the building!
