How many times have we been stuck in the vortex created by rhythm with which the world moves forward? This happens even if we like it or not. Living at a strange rhythm leads to the loss of moments, feelings, details, which often make the difference. More and more people have decided to adopt the philosophy of slowly life, but what does it consist of and what benefits can it offer us?

Unfortunately, in our culture the word "slow" often has negative connotations, comparable to lazy or a little smart. Living slowly does not mean living badly or irresponsibly, it means paying attention to the present, taking advantage of the moment. We live very fast and do not notice. It is no coincidence that people over the age of 14 suffer more and more from anxiety-depressive disorders. Half of people who suffer from stress end up developing emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression. This is because when we realize we are sick, it is already too late.

Living at a fast pace has negative consequences: Already as children we learn to recognize the rush and live with it. They teach us to hurry: go to school and finish school so as not to be late for out-of-school courses. Or do homework in hurry. Shower, quick dinner and then to bed. The next day will go more or less the same.

At university or at work, the rhythm is gained. We prepare for the fact that life will become "what this happens as we spend hours and hours in the office". The office we run to, and from which we leave as well because someone or something is waiting for us: family at home, another job or clothes in the washing machine.

Have you ever heard of the boiled frog principle? This principle can help us understand why we consider this stress load to be normal. If put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will try to jump out to save itself. But if we place the frog in water at room temperature and gradually increase the temperature, the animal will adjust its body temperature as the water gets hotter and it will end up boiled, without realizing it.

A bad look, right? But this is what more or less happens to us. As children they immerse us inside the world and in a society where everything flows at unnatural speeds, but we end up adapting, like frogs. As the years go by, everything will look normal. The most troubling aspect is that we consider stress as positive because without it we are afraid of getting bored. Sounds familiar, right? When we notice the damage caused by this lifestyle, it's too late, and we find ourselves solving serious problems. What does the slow philosophy of life propose and what benefits does it offer?

The philosophy of slowness extends to almost every area of life, from food (slow food, to the origin of everything), to sex, to study, going through exercise, leisure, travel, fashion and, of course, work.

It invites us to eat natural foods, to make a rational and practical use of technology, to favor small local businesses, to break the cycle of buying clothes.

It is a style that invites serenity. This allows you to enjoy things and turn things around carefully.

On a theoretical level it seems easy, you know. The slow-moving lifestyle offers a number of tips on how to get started on a practical level. First: be patient. No one changes their lifestyle in just one day.

Immerse yourself in slow living: Calm down a few minutes ago. Take a shower and breakfast quietly, avoid rushing to work or school. And, if you can, go on foot, paying attention to your steps. If this is not possible, forget your phone while on public transport.

Live well. Stop consumerism, buy essentials. Undoubtedly if you stop for a moment and look around, you will realize that you do not need more, but less. Try the rule of 7 days: when you have the incentive to buy something that is not strictly necessary, wait a week. Once this time has passed, if you still feel like you need it, buy it. At the very least, this range will give you the opportunity to consider other options and compare prices.

Live and enjoy the present. We live tortured by a past we cannot change. And a future awaits us for which we have no certainty. The present is now.
