Hello, hello, everyone! And welcome to my channel again. And today, I'll be talking about why people, sorry, why people stop working out, why people stop going to the gym. And I'm deciding to delve into this topic because today I felt like not making this video. And what way would be better to connect with people and to talk about why people stop going to the gym while I think about the fact that I want to stop making videos today, which is something that I constantly have to battle with.

I constantly don't feel like making these videos that I make for you people. But I do. I do this. I keep on doing this. And I keep on showing up regardless of how I feel, regardless of how it makes me feel while making this video.

Lack of time

So, the number one reason why people do not like to continue working out is lack of time. According to the HealthTune website, HealthTune.com, they said the number one reason why people do not want to work out is lack of time. People give up on working out. People quit working out because of lack of time.

And, okay, I'm not totally sure if that's the number one reason. In my lifetime, it's been relative. It's been relative for me because there was a time in my life when I had a lot of time and working out was not an issue.

Although, I always feel time crunched because I feel like there are some things I'm supposed to be doing but I'm not doing them. And when I think about the fact that I want to work out or I want to make these videos or I want to do anything that might be productive, I think about other productive things that I could be doing.

And then I think about the return on investment that I get from doing these things. Well, for working out, I've settled to a baseline level where I just know that working out is useful for me and I get the results.

I enjoy what I see when I look, when I walk past the mirror. I feel like I look good. Okay. And also, I enjoy telling people that I work out when I meet my patients and I'm discussing these issues with them.

So, I've settled it. Besides the aesthetics and the looks, I've also settled with the fact that it's a good thing that I could be doing for myself. Because of I work out, I also try to sleep 6 to 8 hours every day and I try to get enough food to eat.

So, that's a good thing. Being into fitness makes me more aware and more conscious about my health. So, I don't know if that works for other people.

You also should find comfort in knowing that the amount of time you spend working out is not supposed to be that much of a significant period of your day. There are 24 hours in a day, and you are not supposed to spend up to 10% of that. Less than 5%, if you are critical about your health, you can spend less than 5% working out.

Some days, I just go for 10-minute runs. Some days, I just do five minutes of jumping jacks at home. And that's all I do for the whole day because I have other things that I'm trying to accomplish.

And simply putting work out as a top priority that way hinders me. Now, you might not get the type of results that I get while doing the things that I do because genetically speaking, we're not exactly the same. Also, we are not like the variability in our biology might not allow both of us to get the same results, alright?

So, another thing that people fear, well, another thing that hinders people when it comes to exercise and workouts and why they quit and why they stop and sometimes they don't even want to do it is the fact that they feel they will not enjoy the whole process.

That the whole process will be boring to be planned. Um, it's true. You might not enjoy working out. It's quite possible.

Not enjoying workouts or Pain

In fact, it might be painful. Some people find workouts painful and tedious and they don't see the point of everything. For those people, I would advise that you find a particular spot or something that you can find yourself doing.

For me, at some point, it was boxing. At some point, it was basketball. I did track and field a little bit, and I have settled into bodybuilding 'cause I like the way my body looks as opposed to, you know, the performance of basketball, Boxing.

I still go in and out of some of those sports, especially boxing because there's a boxing bag, there's a punching bag at my gym. So, I can find myself doing that a little bit as cardio and everything, and adding to the number of cardos, the cardio Min I do for the week.

So, for those people, find something you like. If you like the way your body looks when you are fit, then maybe you should be going into the line of bodybuilding. And bodybuilding is just...basically everybody is bodybuilding to an extent.

Like even when you are doing all these other sports like boxing, like volleyball, like basketball, you're basically building a type of body that suits that type of sports. So, everybody's technically bodybuilding, and you need to get closer and closer to the particular body that suits the sport or the closest your body can get to that particular standard that suits the sport.

So, that's just it.

No Access to Fitness Facilities

Um, poor access, the third reason why some people quit their workout or they do not want to work out is poor access to exercise facilities or unpleasant exercise environments. Yes, if you do not have a gym, if you do not have a local gym, or you don't have knowledge of how you can convert your current environment into a place of workout, it can be difficult for you to consider doing that.

Now, for me, applying this to my own current situation where I'm trying to make more videos and I'm giving up on it is similarly I have not been able to convert my environment totally into this place where I can just make videos.

I'm trying to do that little by little. That's why if you saw the last video and this video, I keep on kicking my tripod stand because it's right in front of a table that is right in front of my laptop right over my laptop.

So, but gradually, I'm making that environment, this my environment, more, making it easy for me to just jump right into video making. And that's a good thing. Also, I don't want to spread out my whole environment and make it all for video making because my environment also includes a place for rest, and I don't want it to be all of that.

So, you need to balance that out. So, how can you make your environment more fit for workout, pun intended?

If you want to make your environment more, make it easy for you to be able to work out in your environment, a few things you can do: Keep your workout clothes readily accessible.

My gym shoes are always outside, and it's easy for me to always bring them out. I know that it's not totally cool for me. I know that my neighbor doesn't keep his own shoes outside and doesn't do that kind of stuff.

Even my work shoes are outside, which is horrible because somebody could just one day, if a person is drunk, just step outside and pick up my shoes and be out. But it helps me just get out and get out like the.

It reduces the number of steps for my leaving to work and leaving for my workout, so it has its disadvantages. Obviously, if you don't stay in a place where it's safe enough for you to keep your shoes outside, then maybe you can keep them close to the door so that you know that immediately it's time to work out, I can just wear my shoes.

Immediately it's time to work, I can just wear my gym clothes, and I'm out and I'm ready to go out for the day. So, that's the next one.

Poor expectations

image.png

Then, unexpected, unrealistic expectations. And that's the fourth reason why people do not work out. Unrealistic expectations, too big goals.

Your goals are too big. Yeah, that applying that to me as someone who is making videos and why it might be making me want to quit, I've been thinking about just how many people would be viewing my channel and would be listening to me.

And sometimes, we're not satisfied with the 11 views that I get. 11, seven views, by the way. Please like and subscribe if you have gotten to this point in the video. I'll be very surprised if you actually have.

But my real goal, my main goal for starting this whole thing, the main reason why I started this whole thing was so that I can become more articulate, especially in the topics that have to do with fitness and gradually into topics that have to do with psychology and medicine and making decisions.

That's the name of the page: Informed Decision Making. Decisions, making decisions about what you want to do. So, the goal has not changed.

I still just want to be articulated. That's just it. Learn how to talk, learn how to present things to people, and I'm getting better at it.

But sometimes, I lose focus. You need to know exactly what you're trying to do when you get to the gym, and you need to know what is realistic for you to expect while you're at the gym and while you're doing your thing.

So, some people want to go to the gym and they think that's a place where they will lose weight, but in reality, you don't lose weight in the gym. You don't go to the gym to lose weight.

You get all those changes in the kitchen. You do calorie counting, you do your intermittent fasting, you do your portion control, and that's how you really see results.

You do not see those results at the gym. At the gym, you can maybe burn 1,000 calories if you are very, very effective in your exercise for an hour. It's most likely going to be less than that.

You're not going to burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour. But simply by cutting down 1,000 calories in your diet, you would have done what you could not do in an hour. Well, actually, the whole day, but within your mealtime.

So, which is tremendous, which is awesome. All right.

Poor Motivation

So, the next one is lack of motivation. Not being motivated at the gym, or let's start with my video content creation stuff.

I sometimes do not feel so excited to do this thing, but what I want to do is cut out the need for motivation and just make it all about discipline. But then that will take me to the next point, which is no fun.

Not Having Fun

image.png
https://unsplash.com/photos/people-riding-on-amusement-rides-at-daytime-HTCQCvwV9XY

Not having fun doing it. So, I like talking. Okay, I don't want this to be something that does not at some point become not fun. And I don't also want this to require so much discipline.

That's why you choose this particular fitness or exercise or workout that you like, like bodybuilding. And for now, what I know how to talk about is fitness, so I'm choosing fitness, talking about fitness.

I like psychology also, but I don't know much about it, and there's so much politics in it. So, I get scared of going into those types of topics for now. Um, I might dive into other topics that have to do with medicine because I know a little bit about that, and gradually, I that's where I see my page going and I see me talking, just keeping up with that.

Injury

image.png
https://unsplash.com/photos/person-with-band-aid-on-middle-finger-SwWjCbIIoFE

Then, injury. So, with that, I've talked about lack of motivation, not having fun at the gym. So, injury is another one.

If you sustain injury, how do you sustain injury while making videos like this? Um, well, you could. The injury I sustain while making these videos is mostly psychological.

I am pushing myself through so much psychological stress, getting up from the bed and trying to make these videos because it's difficult. I really don't, sometimes I really don't want to be making these videos, to be honest.

And, um, that's what happens when I rely so much on discipline. I need to just generally speaking get out there, have fun with what I'm doing, and sometimes it's not feasible. All right, so injury at the gym.

So Here I just, I sustained a little bit of soft tissue injury while I was at the gym. See purple-colored finger as opposed to this one that's pink. So, you can have injuries at the gym.

It happens. It was swollen. I would have shown you a picture, but I don't have an editor. If you're an editor and you'd like to work with me, let me know. No immediate results.

Seeking Immediate Results

If you're not seeing results at the gym, it's kind of demoralizing. I'm running out of time making this video, so yes, I'm also str...

I ran out of memory.

But get out there do your thing and don't let anybody stop you!
