Carbohydrates good or Bad!

Hello friends, carbohydrates is an important intake of our food. Carbohydrates is composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and it provides instant energy to body. Just like Protein is the food for tissues, carbohydrate is the food for brain and nervous system. Our brain needs energy in the form of glucose. Carbohydrates is the instant source of energy for brain.

In last two decades spike are observed in type 2 diabetes and hypertension cases around the world. High intake of carbohydrates is one of the main reason of these disease beside stress, life style, sleep pattern etc. There is a lot of debate going around about the intake of carbohydrate. Is it good for health?

According to mayo clinic and many health experts the intake of average carbohydrate should be 45-60%. Average human body needs 2,000 calories to fulfill their body function and needs. This means average human can intake 900 - 1300 calories of Carbohydrate. Remember every gram of carbs contain 4 calories. This means once can take 325 grams of carbohydrates/day. But unfortunately things are not simple as like these numbers.

Just like five fingers are not same. All type of carbohydrates are not same. All have different value. Food which contains added sugar are not good for health. On the other food which contains fiber along with carboyhdrates are very good health. These includes fruits and vegetables. Scientifically we differentiate the quality of food on the basis of glycemic Index and glycemic load.

Glycemic Index determines how quickly your food digested and added glucose to sugar while Glycemic load tells about at what intensity it will be added in blood sugar. The most important thing to remember is that food contains fibers, vitamins and minerals take long time to digest therefore release less glucose. On the other hand food that contains only added sugar, refined carbohydrates or low level of fiber digested quickly and release instant energy.

This means we have to take extra care while selecting our diet if we want to rescue ourselves from disease like diabetes and heart issues. This can be possible only if we minimized soft drinks, bakery products and refined carbohydrates from our diet.

The problem with these product is that these products are delicious in taste and we feel carving of these so we eat a lot. The other fact is that as it contains added sugar so it digest quickly and raise glucose in blood level which contributed a lot in diabetes and heart issues.

Remember excess of every thing is bad. Just listen what the the health expert say. They said that you can take only 10% of your calorie need in the form of added sugar. Stay fit by selecting right food. Wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe life ahead. Have a nice time!
