New Bird Feeder
So my wife hates birds. She had an irrational fear of them. The flapping, the flying, the whole package, she just not like birds and that's fine, I just don't like Manchester United! We don't have to have a logical explanation for everything, some things are "just because" and this irrational bird fear lands in this category.
Interestingly our eldest son loves birds and would love a pet one, but that one just won't fly in a house shared with his Mama, sorry excuse the pun! So I came up with an idea to get a bird feeder for outside instead, that way he can see all the little birds and my wife can maintain her sanity!
So I bought this bird feeder last week and we've had plenty of flying friends stopping by for a feed ever since. Our sons are enjoying seeing all the little birds stop by for a feed and I've taken a few photos of proceedings.
They are munching through the seeds at a rate of knots and Mama and Papa birds are dropping seeds to the ground for the little ones as you'll see below.
Our Perspective
The Chick's Perspective
The idea here was to capture some shots of the feeder from the perspective of the little chicks looking up at it from below.
I really like thinking of photos in this way and capturing some different angles and perspectives.
Feathered Friends
This series of shots was taken on my lunchbreak this afternoon. The bigger birds who I assume are the Mama and Papa peck away to get the seeds out and drop them to the ground for the little chicks who have not yet perfected the art of pecking while flying or perching.
The little guys best be careful though, as our neighbour has around three cats and plenty more pass through our gardens daily.
It's a pity that my camera phone is acting up and getting focus on photos is a challenge, but I did my best with the hardware at my disposal and got some OK shots I think. Not as nice as the sheep shots from the other day, but these little guys are smaller and much more dynamic than the sheep and therefore harder to capture.
These photos are all my own captured on my Samsung Smartphone
That reminds me I have to get a new birdfeeder or 2!
I have seen a few very bright cardinals the last few days and it would be great to see them at the feeder. Maybe get a hummingbird feeder too as there are a few of those lately.
Right on.
No shit man. Humming birds are pre class, but we don't get them here in Ireland, if we did I'd have bird feeders all over the shop to attract them!
I had one like that and it was meant to be squirrel proof and the little buggers still had it messed up and got inside!
Little feckless rogues!!! We don't get many squirrels in these parts, so no man or beast has missed with my bird feeder and if they do, IF THEY DO, I'll buy another one
They totally are. Managed to knock it down and a bit of it broke off on the ground then they were in and about it! Like ninjas they were!
My cat kills at least, one bird per day! I sound like I am proud, but me too I like little birdies...
Bro it's not the camera, it's your reaction time after the 3rd pinte π
