Some time ago I told you about the walking kitten, the same one that supposedly had owners, but that wandered through my street from house to house looking for food... although in my opinion, from my protectionist heart, he was looking for something more than food, the need to have a real home and feel loved, cared for and protected.
I had been feeding him almost clandestinely for a few months, and I even dewormed him at Christmas, but he was in complete abandonment and every day he was deteriorating more and more because definitely, the street mistreats animals in their entirety. I did not dare to take any responsibility because that close family said that the kitten was theirs, but last week, we noticed that his eyes were very affected and he could not open them.
We didn't think twice, and taking advantage of the fact that a free veterinary day was being held in the city this Friday, we decided to take him to have his eyes checked and to administer the next dose of deworming that was due. We left very early in the morning and there were some protectionists who were going to support us, but despite being the first to arrive with the little angel, they did not attend us in that order of arrival, but they made us wait.
After a few hours we realized that the wait was due to the fact that the kitten's condition was now considered a victim of animal abuse, and they had to file a report in which we would be listed as rescuers/protectionists of animals in street situations. I preferred not to file a report or mention any third parties, but the protocol requires a report of the situation of the kitten, in case an owner appears out of nowhere.
After they checked him well, the organizing teams of the day were there as witnesses of his state of abandonment, and then one of the veterinarians checked him thoroughly giving as a result a very sad diagnosis, and a very clear report expressing that his immunity was compromised and exceeded a lapse of 6 months in abandonment to reach such a deplorable state.
Our Walker was dewormed, given vitamins, and had his eye area cleaned. He was also given an antibiotic and sent for a medical referral to continue treatment for mixed infections. He is due for a hematology and a general body cleaning.
Caminante now has a home and is being cared for, and although it is temporary, we will wait for him to be completely recovered before he can be adopted. He will never again return to the streets or to the hands of those who do not know how to give him the love and care he deserves.

Hace un tiempo les hablé del gatito caminante, el mismo que supuestamente tenía dueños, pero que deambulaba por mi calle de casa en casa buscando alimento… aunque a mi parecer, desde mi corazón proteccionista, buscaba algo más que alimentos, la necesidad de tener un verdadero hogar y sentirse amado, cuidado y protegido.
Yo desde hacía unos meses venía alimentándolo casi clandestinamente, e incluso lo desparasité en navidad, pero él estaba en completo abandono y cada día se estaba deteriorando más porque definitivamente, la calle maltrata a los animales en su totalidad. No me atreví a asumir ninguna responsabilidad porque esa familia cercana manifestaba que el gatito era de ellos, pero la semana pasada, observamos que sus ojos estaban muy afectados y no los podía abrir.
No lo pensamos más, y aprovechando que se estaba realizando una jornada veterinaria gratis en la ciudad este viernes, decidimos llevarlo para que revisaran sus ojos y le administraran la siguiente dosis de desparasitante que le tocaba. Muy temprano nos fuimos y en el lugar estarían algunas proteccionistas que nos iban a apoyar, pero a pesar de ser las primeras en llegar con el angelito, no nos atendieron en ese orden de llegada, sino que nos hicieron esperar.
Pasadas unas horas comprendimos que la espera se debía a que el estado del gatito pasaba a ser considerado como víctima de maltrato animal, y debían levantar un acta donde figuraríamos como rescatistas/proteccionistas de animales en situación de calle. Preferí no hacer ninguna denuncia ni mencionar terceras personas, pero el protocolo exige un reporte de la situación del animalito, en el supuesto caso de que aparezca algún dueño de la nada.
Después que lo revisaron bien, los equipos organizadores de la jornada estuvieron como testigos de su estado de abandono, y luego una de las veterinarias lo revisó minuciosamente dando como resultado un diagnóstico bastante triste, y un informe muy claro que expresa que su inmunidad estaba comprometida y sobrepasaba un lapso de 6 meses en abandono para llegar a ese estado tan deplorable.
A nuestro Caminante lo desparasitaron, le dieron vitaminas, y le limpiaron el área de sus ojos. También le administraron un antibiótico y le mandaron una receta médica para continuar un tratamiento por infecciones mixtas. Se le debe hacer una hematología, y una limpieza corporal generalizada.
Ya Caminante tiene un hogar y lo están atendiendo, y aunque es temporal, se va a esperar que esté totalmente restablecido para ser adoptado. Ya nunca más regresará a las calles ni tampoco a las manos de quien no sepa brindarle el amor y los cuidados que merece.
