Have you ever experienced something where the universe didn’t give what you ask for but instead what you needed? Because that’s the story of Toyga and Ash the two unexpected companions in my life.

It all started when this silver-gray cat now named Toyga stayed in our front house. She doesn’t look like a stray cat to me at the same time I don’t know if she belonged to someone else yet she stayed as if she waited to be notice.
On the same day, my brother found Ash on the streets and brought her home. And for unknown reason ash kept choosing my room every single day. Since I’m not sure if they’re strays or lost pets that’s the time I make a move and posted them in our community groups in hopes they’ll be returned to their respectful owners or if someone will claim them. But days turned weeks, and weeks into months and still no one claimed. That’s the time I realized they had already chosen me.
To be honest, I only made a temporary adjustment such as improvised litter box and a little corner of space thinking they will stay here for a short time and someone will claim them sooner or later. But nope as months passed by I slowly began investing in their supplies, food and comfort. It happened so fast and it was almost spiritual for it began as hesitation but now it’s already a commitment.
Now, let me share with you our family beliefs that cats are considered guardians of energy in home.
They are believed to sense negative Qi (energy) and drive it away. So a cat resting peacefully in a room is a sign that the space is harmonious. Also cats that has silver markings are often seen lucky as for ash with her quiet loyalty reminds me of the Chinese saying “A cat that chooses your home carries blessings into it.”
And somehow, I agree because as what I’ve noticed my days became brighter with their presence. Toyga’s energy brings joy while Ash’s calm presence reminds me to slow things down. I no longer see them as “strays” but a gift from universe wrapped in fur. And being with them taught me that sometimes love doesn’t knock on the door it simply walks in waited to be seen and makes itself at home.
So, the next time a stray crosses your path, ask yourself: is it lost? Or has it just found you?
