Visiting a cat refuge on a Brazilian beach [ENG/SPA]

in Hive Petslast year

A few days ago I was with my family walking along a beach in the city where I live here in Brazil and when we were coming back in the afternoon while we were walking to the bus station, we noticed that a kitten began to follow Isabella, our daughter, she was very curious to walk through this place because it is a shelter for stray cats, as we passed we saw the kitten, Isa made her love and from there the cat did not want to let her go.

Here in Salvador we have a beach called Piatã, and in the part that faces the avenue there is an area where there is a lot of vegetation, such as bushes, cactus and plants characteristic of this area, there live a lot of cats, this product of irresponsible and inhumane people who have abandoned baby kittens there, and these are reproducing and every day increase more and more in population.

Whenever we passed by there by car or bus we saw the cats there, because they can be seen from the highway, but we never had the opportunity to see the cats and understand what was happening there. We thought that they were abandoned without the care of people, even on one occasion it was in the news in the region that some people tried to harm the cats to eradicate them from there, which aroused the interest of the population to protect them and give them at least the necessary care so that the cats would not suffer and also so that they would not continue to reproduce uncontrollably.

So today there are people who go there daily to clean the spaces where the cats live, just when we passed by there we saw people there inside the little houses that were built for them, they were sweeping, washing with water, putting food, and we have seen campaigns on television and social networks to donate food, medicines and resources to sterilize the cats, Also the Prefecture of the city has a free veterinary care program available to the entire population, and it includes health care, vaccinations and adoption of these cats that live there, so at least we know they are being cared for, so it is truly a refuge for these living beings that deserve love.

We stayed there for a while watching them, giving them attention, many there are very lacking in human contact, because they meowed as if asking us to take them with us, the kitten that you see on my feet, (I had them full of sand because we came from the beach), but the kitten passed through my legs and also through Isa's, it broke our hearts to not be able to take him home, because Isa even gave him a name.

We have been there several times and I have noticed that there are people who sit on the grass to play with them, it is like a therapy, because there are many people who can not have a pet in every place because they live in places where they are not allowed or their space is too small, as is our case, so they walk in the evenings and can enjoy these affectionate felines.

It pains me to see them there without a human home, but I know they were in worse conditions when they didn't have those little houses to shelter them from the heat or the rain, I know that at least they are receiving food and medical attention, I love cats, I really wish I had one at home to give love to them, They are very tender and although some people think they are not loving, the truth is that they respond to the attention you give them, that is why I miss Mila, the kitten I showed you some time ago, she is the cat of the old neighbor and when we moved we have not seen her again, but I do not lose hope that someday I will have a kitten.
At least we are close to this shelter and we can visit them to bring them a little gift like food or donate something to continue taking care of them, when I go there again I will share it with you here.

Greetings to all, I wish you a happy and feline weekend....

it's really sad to see them around like that but thankfully there are people that takes good care of them by at least giving them shelter and food. Good to know the government is also taking care of them.

That's right, at least they are not so lonely or abandoned, they get some attention, I hope to go there again soon. Thanks for your visit and comment!
