It has been three days since we arranged for a community cat to be spayed. As I mentioned in my previous post, we feed three cats that live in the common areas of the place where we live. One of them is the cat you see in the photos, who has now been spayed. Only one other calico cat remains to be spayed, which we will do in the next few days. Although the cat is a community or street cat, we couldn't allow her to recover outdoors. So we asked my mother for help in keeping her at her house for at least the first few days until the wound is sufficiently healed.
So we have spent the last three days at my mother's house, who very kindly opened her door to us and has given us all the help we need to take care of this cat. By the way, my sister named this cat Melany C, so now she has a name.

We were very surprised by this cat's rapid recovery, based on our experience with our cat Catalina, who had a pretty rough first few days, considering that the wound was oozing fluid and she was showing signs of discomfort or pain, so we were psychologically prepared for what was to come. However, this cat (Melady C), from the moment she reacted to the anesthesia, has shown no major discomfort. As you can see in the final photos, the wound is quite dry, very well closed, and not swollen. We applied a healing powder to, forgive the redundancy, accelerate healing, and overall the wound looks quite good. Furthermore, the cat does not seem to be bothered by it, as she does not lick the area much, which is what they do when they feel pain.

Something that concerns us is the fate of the cat. We don't want her to go back to the streets, so my wife and I have been trying to convince my mom, sister, and dad to keep her. Well, they are willing, but it is also true that having a cat is not a decision to be taken lightly. These days have allowed them to get to know the cat, who is quite well-behaved, very affectionate, and very respectful, and in that sense, they have liked her quite a bit. However, it has not yet been decided whether she will stay at my mom's house. If not, we will make arrangements through Instagram so that, through an adoption agency, someone can take her to a suitable and warm home.
After these three days, we are quite satisfied and calm about the cat's recovery. We have been extremely surprised by how well she has coped with this situation. There have been no major problems with the medication we are giving her or with her diet, and from our perspective, it has been a complete success. We are now waiting to see what will happen to Melany C. We hope she can find a home that will give her the opportunity to live in peace.
