Hello fellow pet lovers😊, I hope you are all doing well and receiving lots of love from your pets. Today I want to talk to you about a topic that has me very attentive to my dog Honey these days; it's about thunder and lightning😿.
For those who are reading me for the first time, I have two very pretty mestizo dogs, Honey and Mily, both are tiny and very cute, Mily looks like a tenderness but is tremendous and thunder or lightning does not cause her any concern, however Honey is very tender and sweet and therefore a little more sensitive.
When the weather wants to rain and the thunder starts, I don't worry about Mily at all, but Honey gets very scared, to the point of wanting to literally jump on top of my head to feel safe😹. I'm sure many of you can relate to me right?
Hola compañeros amantes de las mascotas😊, espero todos se encuentren muy bien recibiendo mucho amor de sus mascotas. Hoy quiero hablarles de un tema que por estos días me tiene muy pendiente de mi perrita Honey; se trata de los truenos y relámpagos😿.
Para los que me leen por primera vez, tengo dos perritas mestizas muy bonitas, Honey y Mily, las dos son pequeñitas y muy bonitas, Mily parece una ternura pero es tremenda y los truenos o relámpagos no le causan ninguna inquietud, en cambio Honey es muy tierna y dulce y por consiguiente un poco más sensible.
Cuando el tiempo está que quiere llover y empiezan los truenos, no me preocupo en lo absoluto por Mily, pero Honey se asusta mucho, al punto de querer saltar literalmente encima de mi cabeza para sentirse segura😹. Seguro muchos de ustedes se identifican conmigo verdad?

During the last months we have been very affected by the tropical waves ⛈that are passing through our country Venezuela, it has been a stress in many ways, even with the tranquility of my dog and surely with many dogs that like Honey suffer with thunder and lightning.
Whenever I read the news these rains are predicted for the following months even next year and I am afraid that Honey will become more and more nervous or maybe if we are lucky, she will get used to this weather that is affecting us in many aspects of our daily lives.
Como amantes de las mascotas, queremos que nuestros peludos se sientan felices y seguros siempre, que de alguna manera sientan y entiendan que siempre haremos todo lo posible por mantenerlos a salvo en la medida de lo posible.
Durante los últimos meses que nos hemos visto muy afectados por las ondas tropicales ⛈que están pasando por nuestro país Venezuela, ha sido un estrés en muchos sentidos, incluso con la tranquilidad de mi perrita y seguramente con muchos perritos que al igual que Honey padecen con los truenos y los relámpagos.
Siempre que leo las noticias se pronostican estas lluvias para los siguientes meses incluso el próximo año y me da temor que Honey se ponga cada vez más nerviosa o puede que si corremos con algo de suerte, se acostumbre a este clima que nos está afectando en muchos aspectos de nuestra vida cotidiana.
I understand that being afraid of thunder is very common in most dogs, but having two pets, I can also observe that there are others that do not affect them at all, I do not know if it has to do with the breeds and sizes, my dogs are small, Mily is a Yitsu mestizo and Honey is a Yorshire mestizo.
The truth of the case is that every time it rains and there is thunder and lightning Honey gets very scared, she whines, jumps on the person who is closest to her, she can even cry and shakes a lot. I don't want her anxiety to increase as she is already at an adult age after 10 years old.
They say that dogs sense things before they happen and I think that is really true, because Honey shows a lot of anxiety even moments before it starts to rain or thunder and just as it happens with thunder, it is the same with fireworks.
Tengo entendido que tenerle miedo a los truenos es muy común en la mayoría de los perritos, pero teniendo dos mascotas, puedo observar también que en cambio hay otras que no les afecta en absoluto, no sé si tenga que ver con las razas y los tamaños, mis perritas son de tamaño pequeño, Mily es una mestiza de Yitsu y Honey es una mestiza de Yorshire.
Lo cierto del caso es que cada vez que llueve y hacen truenos y relámpagos Honey se asusta mucho, gime, brinca encima de la persona que tenga más cerca, incluso puede llegar a llorar y tiembla mucho. No quisiera que como ya está en una edad adulta pasados los 10 añitos se incremente su ansiedad.
Dicen que los perros presienten las cosas antes de que sucedan y creo que realmente es así, porque Honey muestra mucha inquietud incluso momentos antes de que apenas empiece a llover o tronar y así como le pasa con los truenos, es lo mismo con los fuegos artificiales.
In these specific cases what I do is that I keep her in my mother's room, it is a fairly airtight room, so to speak, so the noises enter but are heard very low and not as loud as being outside. This action is quite good for me, because Honey being an adult dog, in a way she understands that she is safer and calmer being inside this room, than being on top of any of the family members.
With this situation I can't help but think about those dogs that many owners tend to leave in the garden or any other outdoor place with this kind of weather, I know that all of us here are responsible parents and we just want to give love and protection to our furry ones, but sometimes we are so busy that we don't have time to notice these behaviors.
En estos casos puntuales lo que hago es que la guardo en el cuarto de mi madre, es una habitación bastante hermética, por así decirlo, así que los ruidos entrar pero se escuchan muy bajitos y no tan estruendosos como estando afuera. Esta acción me resulta bastante bien, porque Honey al ser una perrita adulta, de cierta forma entiende que está más segura y tranquila estando dentro de esta habitación, que estando encima de cualquiera de los integrantes de la familia.
Con esta situación no puedo evitar pensar en esos perritos que muchos dueños tienden a dejar en el jardín o en cualquier otro lugar al aire libre con este clima así, yo sé que todos aquí somos papas responsables y solo queremos brindarle amor y protección a nuestros peludos, pero a veces estamos tan ocupados que no tenemos tiempo para notar estos comportamientos.
Some pet owners recommend me to take my dog to a dog behaviorist, but in our country that is an expensive service, if taking him to the vet is already expensive, imagine this kind of therapies.
For the time being we are calming our little dog, giving her love and caresses at times when there is rain and thunder and then taking her to my mother's room with some treats to entertain her and distract her from the outside noises.

Algunos dueños de mascotas me recomiendan que lleve a mi perro con una persona que atiende la conducta de los perros, pero en nuestro país ese es un servicio costoso, si ya de por si llevarlo al veterinario resulta costoso imagínense este tipo de terapias.
Por lo pronto nos está resultando tranquilizar a nuestra perrita, dándole amor y caricias en momentos cuando hay lluvia y truenos y seguidamente llevándola a la habitación de mi madre con alguna golosina para que se entretenga y se distraiga de los ruidos externos.
Espero de corazón que sus mascotas no tengan este problema que tiene Honey y simplemente disfrute estando fuera o dentro de casa sin importar el clima del día.
