The main reason was that it's the contest of views for Hive links, not views for pictures or text content.
In that case I get it. I thought the goal was to attract as many people to Hive frontends, no matter what you shared: links, images or text. If the goal is that people have to see the link, than images are mostly not appropriate. I think in some cases utilizing a proper image / gif could attract more people, like for example this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/s/h87b75SJs1
I believe people click through to discover the article and the gif works as a clickbait. When I compare that one with another share, I have approximately as much views on PeakD.
BUT I get it that we don't want to include posts where just an image / gif / meme is shared without trying to lure people to a hive frontend.
For a contest you have to make rules which are fair and manageable. So I guess overall I think it's the best if we just let the rules for what they are. I / others are still rewarded with Redditposh for image shares so actually I don't have to complain at all.
Better not to experiment with what nicely works.
I agree, just leave the rules as they are. Just wanted to share my reasoning. 🙌
Yup. I share image galleries with links too to get Redditposh rewards.
I have no opinion about that - never tried to share gifs... If this helps to bring more people - cool.
