Earning money has never been easy. I don't think it's a country thing. I remember the adage that says "money never grows on a tree" And even if it does, it takes a lot of hard work to climb high up there to pluck.

The economy in my country is nothing to write home about, which makes earning even harder.

There are few white collar jobs, that's because it takes grace, and connection to get good paying jobs.

Most people in my country settle for blue collar jobs or vocational skills to put food on their table.

Others hawk everyday on the street or when there's traffic to make ends meet. They sell cookies, sachet and bottle water, carbonated drinks, chips, sausages, some even sell power banks, chargers, shoes and anything you can think of on a highway. I've seen even new moms and their babies, pregnant women, little children and the elderly selling all of these and it's quite sad.

The value of our currency is another thing entirely, that makes whatever one earn feel like nothing. It has lost its value.

Most of the young ones in my country have all now become content creators on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. They earn through live sessions, influencing, or advertising for various brand. Some create skits and even via views and comment and since they earn in a foreign currency, it has more value.

For me, I earn through my skills. I sew and design clothes for people. I also teach fashion designing online and offline. It's not easy getting client that knows the worth of my skill, they price a very detailed garment like where they price tomatoes and fish in the market and sometimes it's very annoying.

However, I have some good and great clients that pay well for a job well done. It's just life, and life is a sweet bitter experience. Making money in my country is a big code to crack. It takes grace, wisdom, hard work and vigor to earn.

"Nobody is coming to save you". No matter how bad it gets, one just need to keep going while hoping for the best.

This post is a response to the week's prompt.

Oh, I know that feeling! Comparing uncomparable things to get a better price... No, thank you... You are selling skill and knowledge, not a tomato!!!

However, I have some good and great clients that pay well for a job well done.

Keep them close... Those who appreciate you are worthy of your time! ๐Ÿฅ‚

Yes, I am selling skill and knowledge and it's never cheap. Thank you so much for the cheers. ๐ŸŒธ

Yeah there is earning and there is getting paid. I often get paid in USD which people forget is worth less in the UK and they are bemused why I decline to work for them without a price increase lol!
Then being paid what you are worth. I think over there people expect you to do things for free!

Oh you're right. Over here, they want free services more than anything else. Haha.

The struggle is real mehn๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Yeah the struggle is fluffing real everywhere!
