Let Them Ask - Building a Strong Bond Through their Questions

in Indiaunited22 hours ago

Assalamu Alaikum,
In this blog, I want to talk about a child’s ability to question things, especially when something new happens in their life.

I am a mother of a three year old, and I know very well how it feels to be around children at this age.

They ask a lot of questions, sometimes repeatedly, and sometimes about things that make us uncomfortable.

Recently, I came across some content that made me realize that children have every right to ask even the silliest questions, and as parents, it is our responsibility to connect with them and answer those questions patiently. This is the phase where a strong bond between parents and children is built.

I want to share a recent incident. My husband went to a funeral, and my son asked me what happens after someone is no longer alive.

It is not easy to explain concepts like life and death to a three year old, but I still wanted to answer him honestly in a way he could understand.

I explained to him in simple words that after this life, there is another life where we meet the Almighty.

My son already knows about God because we are teaching him about faith along with modern education.

We believe it is important for him to know who God is and why following God is important from an early age.

Because of this, he was able to understand that after we close our eyes forever in this world, we meet the Almighty and stay there eternally.

We did not go into difficult topics like the Day of Judgment, Hellfire, or Heaven, because I feel he is too young for that right now. When the time comes, we will teach him everything slowly and properly.

The main reason for writing this blog is simple. When your child asks you questions, no matter how many times they repeat them or how silly they sound, try to answer with patience, politeness, and love. This is how you build a strong connection with your child.

Do not get irritated or tired of their questions. They are only trying to understand the world around them.

It is their right to ask, and it is our duty as parents to answer them in the best way possible.

If we do not, children may start looking for answers elsewhere, which can harm the parent child relationship in the long run.

If you want a healthy and strong relationship with your children, talk to them, listen to them, and be their friend. This is how it works best for both parents and children.
