Ok so there are a few things I can not do and one of those things just so happens to be baking.... yes, something as simple as baking absolutely destroys me for some reason and the end result is never that good. But little miss has been growing rapidly of late wanting to do more and more things on her ownsome and one of those things included baking cookies!

So, seeing I am such a crap baker and little miss wanted to learn I decided to opt for one of those simple 3 step cooking boxes you can get from the supermarket which seemed really easy and I let little miss at it. We're still learning to read so there was a little bit of help from dad.

The first step was to weigh up 180g of butter which little miss was super excited to get the scales out and weigh up all her butter. She actually did really well cutting and adding until the scales hit just over 180gs but that was good enough.

The next step was to mix our butter into our flour mix with one large egg. At this stage I thought that this was never going to work, did it need more moisture? The recipe also called for the use of a spoon to stir through but as the butter was still a little cold it didn't work out to well so we got down and dirty with our hands!
I should point out that I didn't get my hands dirty I just let little miss lead the way as this was her baking day.

Once done it was time to make out cookies and this is where hindsight comes into play as the instructions made no mention of what thickness they should be. So we made these thin shaped cookies. Little miss got a little to excited and started to eat the batter before it was cooked!

Now it was time to lay cookies onto baking trays and decorate them with some chocolate smarties. Up until this point we were steaming ahead but little miss opted for a one for me one for you approach and almost got her fill on smarties alone!

As we prepares to place the cookies into the oven there was no temperature mentioned so I preheated to 200 degrees celcius and baked at 180 instructing miss that they needed 15 minutes and told her when the clock would be 15 minutes.

It wasn't long until she ran in excited for her cookies!

Unfortunately the cookies burned :( it turned out that we shouldn't have flattened them as they melted and become larger rounder cookies. Argh! I buggered the baking.

We were able to salvage most of them and little miss ate them with a smile reassuring me that we will do better next time.

I guess dad stuffs it up at times!

Hi there @melbourneswest. It is another day for me to witness a hands-on activity with your beautiful daughter. Her eagerness will put her into achieving her goals. The result was not that too bad. Please send my congratulations to your lovely daughter for a job well done than following her willingness can possibly open new learning for her.

They were beautiful as always a teamwork with the little lady that allows the development of their skills and abilities not only cognitive but also manual. Congratulations.

Thank you for the confidence :) we have another batch ready to go soon. Hopefully we don't burn them this time and we have dinosaur cookie cutters yay!

Oh wow! What a success! Quality time spent between dad and daughter and the smile and joy on her face says it all. Eating cookie dough... that's almost the best part of baking lols. And the cookies... they are edible and look alright mate. Looks like you guys had fun! And her heart is full. Me thinks dad did not stuff up after all !LUV !PIZZA

Hahaha yes that is the fun part eating the raw dough. I remember those days so well when I was young.

🥣😍👍

I still think the cookies look great. Surely it's normal that they sometimes look a bit dark on the edges. 😉

Hahaha thank you! They didn't taste Tooooooo bad if you cut the edges off 🤣

Oh, look at that! She's already baking. <3

I bet next time it will be much better. When I bake cookies I normally check at the 10-minute mark coz I used to overbake them and they turn so hard. I prefer them just nice and chewy.

As time passes by you are certainly sewing the seeds for her to become successful in life. With that being said, she'll be independent and resourceful once she grows all because of your guidance.

I'll admit, I'm slightly shocked that you cook so well, but don't bake. Oh well, Little miss to the rescue. With her baking and you cooking, you'll have it all covered soon enough. 😊
