Hello homeedders and parents! Hope you have a great time!

So maybe this looks like a simple craft art but actually my 2-yrs-old (at that time) made almost half of the work here.

We focused on this activity mostly to develop his fine motor skills and hand-eye coordonation. Also I was trying to stimulate his creativity and that inner artistic feeling.

Homeschooling with kids at this age is so beautiful and easy. You just need to let your children observe, interact, try, feel and in the end do all kind of activities by themselves. Maybe some of you struggle with it because there are children that simply can't cooperate or dont seem to show any patience and focus to the learning activities you're trying to do..
Just stay in there, mamas! Attention span at this age is really short! It will grow day by day, slowly but surely!

He was and still is so good with painting. We started to paint before the age of two (in was easy for us because he could keep a crayon in his hand and scribble from the age of 1yr and 4mo and from then things envolved really good and really quick). So these kind of art activities like drawing, coloring, painting were our to go activities, because he enjoyed them so much!

That's the reason I thought this art activity is something we both would enjoy and so did we!

Maybe you ask yourself what is that red and white thread?

Here in Romania we celebrate the first day of spring and the tradition stays in some brooches, called "mฤƒrศ›iศ™oare". The boys and men give these to girls and women and they wear it in the month of March! As many of these you recieve, it's best!
Before, they were like this one, something that you actually can wear but these days, there are tons of Martisoare, from handmade cards to gifts and so on.

So this is what we did here. MARTISOARE. So we can give these to the family.

You can make these as handmade cards and give them to family members, you can keep them for you or simply make them because its fun and your children can benefit from this art activity.

Here's the whole process! Enjoy and hopefully this is something you can use at home with your children.

For this activity you need:

  • pumpkin seeds (unpeeled)
  • water colors
  • colored paper or white paper
  • any type of glue (to stick the seeds on paper)

PAINTING the SEEDS

First thing and the fun one is to paint these tiny seeds. This is the part where your children develop fine motor skills by using the brush, grabbing and squeezing the pumpkin seeds. Also they need to concentrate, to focus. They get creative in here and they chose their favorite colors to paint with, also maybe they'll mix some colors, etc.

ASSEMBLING the FLOWER

Cut the paper. Prepare all tools you need like scissors and glue.
Choose 5 pumpking colored seeds for one flower. You can let your child decide and pick the seeds as they like.

I helped him forming the flower by drawing a flower on the paper. So he basically associated the petals on the paper. Here's what I mean. You can choose skipping this step if you feel like. But with little children, I think this is a must.

This is what happens if you let them make the flower. HAhahaha

And this is the result.

Love how these turned out! They are so vivid and colorful!
In the end we applied the thread on the paper using glue.

Also I colored the leaves and the stem.

All right. SO this is it. I believe this was a very constructive and effective learning activity. My son was 100% involved and I'm sure that most of the children will love this activity as much as we did.

Hopefully you try it and if so, please leave me a reply telling me how it turned out to you!

Thank you guys for reading,

Aaa, in the end, he decided to write Number 1 on one card. You can see that he was not satisfied with his writing so he did three ones until he was happy about the last one.

Looks like you have a serious helper here. Those seeds are a clever choice by the way. The ladies will be happy to get such a nice gift ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes, they came out so beautiful considering they've been partially done by a 2 yrs old.

Undoubtedly, this is an activity that not only enhances the children's skills creatively but also achieves concentration in the work and the development of skills involving fine motor skills and coordinated movements. Congratulations as always a beautiful and careful work.

Using painted pumpkin seeds is a very creative idea! Cool post, thanks for sharing it, @missdeli.

Thank you so much for commenting! We often forgot we can use all kind of simple things to create art right?

You just made me utter "Wow!" again, they look so pretty. Good evening!

Thank you so much for commenting, appreciate it. Have a nice weekend!
