Nocturnal πŸ¦‡πŸ¦‰ and Day Animals πŸ¦ŽπŸ– Sorting Activity

in Home Edders β€’ 2 years ago

Hello friends,

This is my first post in days, I hope you are all good! πŸ’—
My life is a little busy at the moment, but I'm still around! Its just that I wont be able to post as often as usual.
I hope you missed me, cause I surely miss all of you, my friends here.

I'm posting today something I did with Caleb, not so long ago.

I always said in my posts that Caleb isnt interested in animals, not in particular. Well, that changed over the time and in the last weeks, we studied Animals quite often and did all kind of games, reading and activities on the topic.

This one is a good example to give you an idea about the way we learn things.

I always say: Learning through Play. Because when kids play, they actually learn as well. So why not use that? Win win situation.

In order to set up this activity, you'll need colored rice. Or just some material to replace it.
For example, you can use black and blue strips of paper or crumpled pieces of paper.
Or you can use black beans for the night tray.
If you dont have animal cards or figurines, you can draw the animals or print some.

Day and Night Animal Sorting

I used these Animal Flash Cards πŸ¦ŽπŸ¦’πŸ¦”πŸΈ that we have at one of our game called "Can pigs fly?".
Its a cool game to learn about animals, I have to share it with you soon.
The game has also a little brochure with animal description and we used it to verify if an animal is nocturnal or diurnal.

We used some books too in order to have an educational reference.
I always have books around when we learn. 😁 I am very grateful we have all these books. They are pure gold for this little brainer.

The books helped a lot because they give valuable information on this topic. Actually one of the book was called Day and Night. It was about animals and how they are different and have activity more in the night or the day.

The activity went smooth, as I imagined.
There were a lot of questions and fun too. You cant go wrong with the rice.

After sorting the animals, Caleb had a revelation. πŸ˜πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
He said that its not OK to put the elefant, leopard, lion and cat to the day tray because even though they go and hunt in the night, they do it in the day as well.
They sleep a lot, day and night. They eat day and night.

He felt they dont belong only in one tray, so we put them in the middle.

Same way goes with the snail. He said he saw a lot of snails in the day and they're in the garden sometimes, even though they might be clasified as night animals.

He learnt a lot about felines during the last month and animals in general.

It was a great exercise because he had the chance to use the knowledge already acquired, but it was also a good opportunity to gather new ones.

It's fascinating when we see children draw theie own conclusions based on what they learned. It was very mindful of him to think about putting some of the animals in the middle. What a lovely and educatiinal activity!

Yes, it is. I can't wait to hear more of this. :D because when we hear it, as parents, we realize how big these kids are. It's both fulfilling but nostalgic too on how fast time goes. 😩

Thank you for your lovely comment! 😊

What a great and creative idea, I love it! :) And your son is right, some animals are difficult to put in just one tray as they are active whenever they want :D

@tipu curate

Thanks for stopping by, commenting and dend some tipu too. Appreciate it πŸ€—

Sorry for this late reply. I dont have excuses, is just that real life became busier these days. Thats the truth. 😁 and there's more to come. πŸ™„

No problem, life gets busy ;) Have a nice weekend and happy Easter!

Ohh yeah! In Romania most of people celebrate Easter next weekend. Only the Catholic christians celebrate it this weekend as it is West Europe, from Hungary all the way to Portugal.
(The Catholics here, they're like 5% of the population).

I wish you the same! Happy Easter to you and your girl and all your families!

Thank you :)

Greetings @missdeli, very good idea to work on the diurnal and nocturnal habits of animals, it allowed your son to become more familiar with animals and reinforce the knowledge acquired in his learning stage, he is a very sharp child with character, he knows how to establish the parameters when classifying animals and place them in the middle because they meet both criteria, I wish you much success in the work you develop to educate your son.

Happy and blessed week!

Yes, everything you said is so true.
I was really amazed to hear his point of view and it made me realize how his mind works. He can already think by himself and analyze things.

Thank you very much for stopping by. I appreciate your comment and for taking your time visiting our work.

Same for you, have a lovely day!

Congratulations your publication has been chosen among the best of the day.

KEEP CREATING GOOD CONTENT.
