in Home Edders3 years ago

Hello beautiful Hive community!

Having a cozy and well decorated home does not always have to be an expensive affair. There are many alternatives to decorate our home with simple and recycled materials, where we not only gain a new acquisition of usefulness for our home but also contribute to save the planet. How great isn't it? Well, let's get down to work!

Plants in our home not only serve as a decorative element, but also help to keep the room temperature cooler and gives us oxygen and purification of the environment. It is for these reasons that I chose this project to share with you.

This time I bring you a tutorial of a small plant pot made from recycled material, specifically soda and water bottles that you can make with the kids in home.

Creation process

Step 1: We take the plastic bottle and proceed to cut the mold of the flowerpot at the bottom of the bottle, commonly known as the bottle butt.

Since I really like kittens, I decided to make the shape of the pot with pointed cat ears, making a triangle shape for each ear.

Step 2: Then I proceeded to paint the pot with the cold paint on the outside, taking care to give it enough to cover the entire surface well.

Step 3: This is the most fun step of all, since I used "Kawaii" (cute) drawings as a reference to make the details of the cat's face.

Step 4: I chose a lemon plant from my seedbed to plant it in the "gatomaceta". I applied black soil, planted my lemon seedling and that's it! Let's enjoy my decorative pot.

Those pots are adorable XD

Do you have to be careful of sharp edges when you're cutting bottles? Or is it just me that's clumsy enough to slice things with the bottle? (never have problems with the scissors x_x)

Also what is cold paint?

Hello, thank you very much for reading me. If they are small children, it is preferable that the bottle be cut by an adult. Here in Venezuela the plastic of bottles is quite soft and does not cut but I do not know if it will be the same in other countries 😅. Cold paint is a paint that is used here in Venezuela to do handicraft work, I don't know what it's called in other parts but you can use acrylic paint too 😊

Greetings friend. It is important to have this kind of initiative and teach children that materials can be recycled in many ways, some very nice like this one, to give them a new use and avoid generating more garbage.
