The way it's set up right now their curation rewards and voting clique basically ensure the old boys monopoly sadly. The answer is to modernize HIVE and get an EVM capable chain going with a byzantine fault bonded stake system that nullifies and witness rewards (including my own).
It needs to be open to everyone with low system resources required.. a windows/mac/linux executable and a method to protect the EVM witness pool from takeovers.. No HIVE would be generated on the chain and the witnesses on the EVM sidechain would be paid with the "gas" fees required to prevent spam of the EVM chain and have it compatible with other technologies..
I've got it in the pipeline.. But I need to go and do some querying on the HIVE chain from the start to see exactly how to determine and enumerate exactly how much of the large stakeholder accounts is from witness payouts. If I am nullifying those payouts then morally I have to nullify my own, which sucks, but I'm not aiming to become the new hegemon
Making Hive evm compatibile certainly would open up a whole new world to Hive. I'm sure there will be plenty of pushback against nullifying rewards though, whales gotta whale.
