On new years 2024 I'd looked at my HIVE account and sighed, remembering a time (in the STEEM days) where my account held well over $250,000 USD in assets and my vote could literally give people enough money for a meal with a single click.. Back then STEEM/HIVE was my entire life and I worked ceaselessly as not only an envoy, but an innovator.. I gave my all to the network and ended up neglecting all my other relationships in real life.. It cost me everything I loved in my life at the end of the day, left me a depressed shell of a man, drinking himself to death at the local watering hole..
In 2025, every post I make will be set to 100% HIVE POWER as payout. This is Ultimately to begin to rebuild my stake, voting power and interest in getting HIVE to a state technologically that doesn't have us rocking decade old software and "old generation" cryptocurrency norms.

In chasing success I ended up failing horribly in the things that really mattered.. Becoming pompous and obsessed with coding for STEEM/HIVE.. At the end of the day I was literally on top of the world.. But as with everything, that too came to pass. Mostly by my own action and inability to hold my tongue against what I perceive as injustice..
It was never personal to me, it was a matter of honour and trying to do what is right.. It cost me everything, but at the end of the day, what I did was morally right and given the situation to play out again.. I do not know if I'd have spoke out OR bided my time and staked power in order to fight the system using the system rather than words..

Currently at witness rank # I yield roughly 225 Hive Power (~$54 USD) with roughly $40 USD of that going towards my server bill.. Leaving me with around 59 Hive Power gain a month after the smoke clears.. 59HP multiplied by 12 months yields around 708 Hive Power Gain a year. That leaves roughly 8300 Hive Power a year to be gained by posting. While a seemingly large amount, by using the 100% Hive Power Payout all year and posting not only my work hours but other HIVE related stuff.. I think it is possible..
Of course witness votes and a higher rank will make this far easier, so if you have a spare witness vote and would like to help me fund finishing the development of hive.loans and the Hive Side/Smart Chain to modernize the HIVE capabilities and make us truly interoperable with the new standard of crypto blockchains.
Current testing cycles are long and even the TLD for the project is WAY out my budget atm.. but this can change.. And will change. I'm sorry it has taken so fucking long to get back into gear on HIVE things, it's been a rough stretch after getting FUCKED by that royal reptile psyber-x stuff.. I still have all the source code for that and WILL rebrand that and distribute air drops to those who bought those assets due to me being involved.. at the end of the day I got taken for a ride and the depression afterwards was crippling..
Might not look impressive... But that orange line going up is my HIVE POWER growing. While my posts are mostly just me tracking hours at the moment, I intend to get back onto HIVE related software dev here on the weekends and late night.
My dedicated witness server bill is ~$40 USD a month, my witness earnings are roughly $54 USD a month. Meaning my current witness rank JUST pays for the hardware required which ultimately is a blessing gifted by those who vote my witness. Thank you to all who vote me. Because I am just over break even on the witness node earnings as it sits I am forced to power down in order to pay my server bills, BUT what this allows is for all of my post rewards to slowly compile and build up my HP holdings. This isn't about acquiring wealth to me, but rather to start acquiring some sort of stake so I'm not just a loud mouth asshole, but a loud mouth assh0ole capable of clicking on things and rewarding people with earnings and or proposal support.

The HIVE Blockchain is NOTHING without it's CommunityOur blockchain doesn't have security, but it has community and the ability to communicate on chain.. Than in itself is a hell of a starting point, but at the end of the day we're not even CLOSE to being an attractive blockchain to build or incorporate.. How many posts are AI now? How many millions of dollars in the hive development fund do we need before we start funding people that would love to full time develop hive improvement? Don't get me wrong, this graphene based blockchain is a neat idea but the current state frankly makes it last generation technology on it's own little island.. The Decentralized Hive Fund is the old "Steemit Inc" / Sun Yuchen / Justin Sun capital.. We should be spending that on developing rapidly and placing bets on these app developers instead of expecting them to work for god damn free in hopes they get in good graces of the top stakeholders. Backwards ass community and technology development management..
This isn't a industry you can just sit pretty with outdated decade old technology and sit on your laurels. This is crypto, and those running this chain and those shaping the future of it aren't doing fuck all to make HIVE attractive to users or investors.
The leadership and guys with vote power need to focus on actually improving the chain with the money they've hoarded, or they need to step down and distribute their power to people who actually give a fuck beyond what money grabs and "plugging of the holes" that can be forked in.
Grandfathered in parasitism would be a good summary of what I see in some of the top stake holders, perhaps at some point they provided incredibly useful HIVE community applications but there are some who frankly do not care beyond their own wealth, and are focused elsewhere while starving a huge amount of talented devs willing to make HIVE something more than what it is now.
No Bad Actors, Just Bad Optics and Greed Based Actions..
Human Nature becomes VERY Apparent When Potential Capital Gains and Power are in PlayAgain, nothing personal to these top power players, I know my wording is strong and at face value I could understand people being pissed the fuck off about being called out.. But at the end of the day this isn't me pointing this out for shits and giggles.. This is me pointing things out because the biggest problem with HIVE isn't the lack of technology or developers, it's the lack of fucks given by those voting eachother into top spots while swapping in and out MAYBE 33% of the top 20 slots between guys who actually do the work. Shit is shameful. Humans fucking suck sometimes. If I have to be the asshole and martyr myself to get people questioning exactly what the actual fuck is going on with the leadership.. so be it.
Chain modernization should have been funded the same week that the development fund was created.. The need for developers to crowdfund or self fund their development work when we have millions sitting there is fucked. How long until the top power players are making alts and voting up their proposals and splitting it between those in the know like the fucking mob? I don't believe the guys at the top are stupid or evil, but I don't have faith in them being objective or putting the community or chain first.
Alright, I'm done spazzing the fuck out about this.. Talk is cheap. I need to finish developing my answer to this god damn clusterfuck. Shame I have to code in a completely different industry to attempt to self fund the remaining HIVE app dev I have to do.. but such is life.

Talk is cheap indeed, you raise a couple of good points though. Let's hope more people commit to building a better Hive for all. !SLOTH and steady we can all make a difference here just by participating and growing. One day those at the top will no longer be there, who knows if it'll be for the better, or worse!
The way it's set up right now their curation rewards and voting clique basically ensure the old boys monopoly sadly. The answer is to modernize HIVE and get an EVM capable chain going with a byzantine fault bonded stake system that nullifies and witness rewards (including my own).
It needs to be open to everyone with low system resources required.. a windows/mac/linux executable and a method to protect the EVM witness pool from takeovers.. No HIVE would be generated on the chain and the witnesses on the EVM sidechain would be paid with the "gas" fees required to prevent spam of the EVM chain and have it compatible with other technologies..
I've got it in the pipeline.. But I need to go and do some querying on the HIVE chain from the start to see exactly how to determine and enumerate exactly how much of the large stakeholder accounts is from witness payouts. If I am nullifying those payouts then morally I have to nullify my own, which sucks, but I'm not aiming to become the new hegemon
Making Hive evm compatibile certainly would open up a whole new world to Hive. I'm sure there will be plenty of pushback against nullifying rewards though, whales gotta whale.
