Some ranting about hive curation, KE, link sharing, comparison to other stuff like reddit's token, etc.
Not much more to type compared to my 30 minute rant on the video, i'd recommend speeding it up and auto-translating the cc if english isn't your first language.
Rewards dependent on KE ratio - I like that! Or at least some reduction, if KE is over 5 or so.
Could be a useful incentivation tool to not sell Hive.
At these price levels we NEED to think outside of the box and also about more radical steps like reduction of the HBD APR or the rather useless 3% Hive "inflation".
The bigger nail to hammer down right now are those with a high KE but at the same time providing very little contribution/value to the ecosystem. Having a high KE in and of itself doesn't tell the full story - I could be selling all my hive to sit on Bitcoin thinking it's gonna 2x soon so I can buy 2x more hive for instance in half a year - or any other reason. But having a high KE, getting a lot of stake and still barely being around - that's the thing we should focus on stamping down first imo. Because if people are getting a lot hive for doing close to nothing, naturally it's not going to mean much to them and they're willing to part with it easily.
I've legit seen some folks brag about buying a big flat screen TV some years ago while their KE (even though it didn't exist back then yet) was approximately 30. Then you looked at their posts and it was 1-2 big voters always while there was barely any engagement nor was the author trying to engage.
Most people who do a lot for hive either on chain or behind the scene do "advertise" this either in their bio or mention it in posts/comments, so I'm not advocating for downvoting or not rewarding those people - even if their KE happens to be high.
But if you're "just" an author and still earning a lot with no signs of trying, then stakeholders should stop rewarding that and not force people to start downvoting to stop that activity.
Inflation is reducing on its own, making drastic changes there is not a good idea, imo, especially not to HP. As for HBD, people say it's better to lower it when price of hive is doing better.
¡Hola @acidyo !
If I'm not mistaken, the HP inflation is to balance falling vest values with the increasing HIVE tokens so HODLers don't get screwed.
They get screwed anyway by the inflation of the token which is way more than the 3% APR.
Didn't that also get reduced with the "dhf fix" recently?
I don´t think so, the peakd-wallet says 3,76% but no clue from where they get the information.
The witness rewards were reduced however, so that I am currently even with rank 52 in deficit.
You touched on some good points. Also, I think curations, especially with higher HIVE/dollar value, shall be done carefully. But as you mentioned, I also notice quite a few curators with some to more power, upvoting content that doesn't deserve it, and foremost upvoting authors that don't deserve it. Too many authors are pumping out posts but not commenting, some not even reacting to comments on their own posts. These days it is difficult to find worthy content/authors to vote for without regularly voting for the same author. Ie, not so much good authors and content around. Also, quite difficult to discover new ones. Well, perhaps not difficult, but time consuming. Time hardly anybody puts into HIVE.
Honestly, for the last 9 years I have been with HIVE and its predecessor, my thoughts have remained quite the same: We need tools for curators to help select content and authors. We need more metrics which are super easy to view. For instance, the all-time-reward and wallet amount you showed used at Reddit. For instance, post/comment ratio (is this the K/E you mentioned?). I for one, always open the blog channel of an author and review the number of posts in the last week/month and then open the comment section to see if this is somehow in balance . When trying to curate 10 posts a day, this becomes time-consuming because we don't have simple metrics at the post level itself. Plus I need a laptop. With a smartphone, the time needed to go about things this way, will take even more time. Easy to add such metrics, but I suppose no frontend wants to introduce this for whatever reason.
At the same time, I simply hate the Trending channel, entirely based on post rewards. Same Same users always on top. Most with tons of auto votes, which never gets changed. A solution to this could be to remove any auto vote when not adjusted by the auto voter for a year, perhaps even for a month. Like we do with witness votes. I do believe that when such a feature of removing auto votes will be introduced, some big ass auto voters will become quite unhappy. Nonetheless, I truly think we need such feature(s). I simply see too many auto votes going to stupid ass content and authors that spend little time with HIVE...
...that said, it isn't easy to figure out if an author is genuine, and/or an author contributes to HIVE in other ways than posting and commenting. Therefor, we need tools. In today's era with much AI LLM tools around, I believe we shall create auto analysers. And introduce a central webpage to publish the results of the analysis, to help curators, to bring forward genuine authors and also bring forward the 'abusers' as well as those that do not contribute to HIVE. Such website shall be very dynamic, not ending up in same top lists as the Trending channel does, or most active users lists does. We will also benefit from a central website to 'promote' content and authors. Which shall never be on the amount of rewards, but on other 'metrics'.
Regarding the promotion of HIVE outside HIVE. I don't have experience other than promoting posts in my X channel, some years ago. What I noticed is that my small X following wasn't looking into such posts. The only ones doing so, were already in HIVE. I am a big believer in word-of-mouth in the real physical world. Like what the peeps in Krakow do, Hallman. Was quite displeased when some big ass HIVE user started bashing him and his local community setup. Hallman does a lot for HIVE, but it isnt refelcting in hs posts. Or it is, but one needs to open and read like 100 historical posts, no one does.
Selling HIVE shall not be the money part, since money corrupts, and that is what we see at HIVE already for the past 9 years. For a reason, we see the active user base drop whenever HIVE/dollar value goes down the drain. HIVE social network is way too much about money. Which should not, to attract the right users and foremost to retain them.
BTW, the HIVE frontends become too complex as well. Formatting of posts is a drama due to different format code each frontend supports, or not support. Even simple things like centring a still image, may work for one or two frontends, while for other frontends it screws up the UX. I am in favour of more (and perhaps forced) alignment. Lesser frontends, but better frontends.
Darn, now this comment reads and feels like a rant as well. That wasn't my intention, but who knows, some dev reads this comment and I was able to trigger something 🙂🎶
You should be required to make a video like this once a month! 😁
Yes, KE should be taken more into account. All front-ends should display each user's KE, like @peakd. This is so that those who are curating can analyze user participation.
In addition to the philanthropic side of HIVE, particularly with users from more disadvantaged areas, as mentioned in the video, there are other analyses to be made: whether the user has a high KE because they withdrew it to buy HBD or second-layer tokens, whether they withdrew it to make an investment that will improve their performance in publications (computer equipment, photographic equipment, etc.), in addition to the BTC example you mentioned. But for that, an analysis is needed, hence the importance of KE being straightforward. I don't deny a vote to a high KE user if I see that they have effective and permanent participation (interaction).
Unfortunately, what we see most are irresponsible curation groups, in exchange for delegations, helping with continuous looting.
I ask: what pleasure do users who buy HIVE get from seeing others constantly withdrawing due to the irresponsibility of the curators?
That #gosh one escaped me, I'll activate it in my strategy. In addition to Reddit, I'm also sharing on Medium, which is a HIVE-friendly platform because it's possible to share the entire publication in a simple way. I'll do a tutorial soon.
Agree fully, it's the "inactive" aside from posting ones we need to reconsider rewarding with this much stake.
About gosh, I need to make a whole video about it I feel like as too few people are using it and it could have great potential. Maybe even a usecase for the posh token later on, who knows!
Oh man that wasn't really rant, you need to be more pissed off and controversial 😂
When some new user comments on me and such i always give a look at KE and blog page, those with ridiculous KE like 15-20 without any post, or even with the usual topic crypto finance ai-like posts are just extractors and I don't drop a vote
If it was for me I'd disable autovotes and trails so people are forced to do manually... Like put some tags that guarantee big autovotes, is not good for the platform
I didn't know about the token on /CryptoCurrency, i always wondered what the hell was that number close to my username, now I know
And make more controversial stuff, I love it 😄
How many moons have u earned so far?
None apparently 😄 maybe they stopped the distribution? Some posts I made there went pretty good so I guess something should have been earned by now

Acidyo dropping another deep dive on Hive curation & KE – always appreciate these rants! 🔥
The comparison to Reddit tokens hits hard: Hive rewards real value creation, not just karma farming.
Watched the full 30min (2x speed + auto-translate helped 😅) – worth every minute.
What’s your biggest pain point with current curation system?
I guess it's that a lot of upvotes aren't questioned whereas downvotes instantly raise all hell.
I really don’t like giving opinions about what some receive and what others don’t… because I say Hive is like real life. Everything fits here… beauty, malice, justice and its counterpart… what I do know is that there are ways to tell whether someone truly enjoys Hive or is only here to post and get votes.
Curators should be able to see those things because here on Hive all of a user’s information is accessible. And thank you for the information about Reddit and its token, I had no idea about that. I face serious connectivity problems (though it may not seem so) and I had to give up things I would have liked to keep, such as a radio programme I started, and sharing on other platforms… but anyway, I didn’t come here to complain. I came to thank you for being attentive to these matters.
Many have come and gone to include big investors both with funds and creativity. Some folks I know that have been here for the long-haul include, but are not limited to:
@shadowspub - Founder of Pimp Your Post Thursday (PYPT)
@dreemsteem - Left for a short time but returned. Founder of the Dreemport
@wesphilbin - An USA Veteran who is known for his positive input. Founder of Daily Thoughtful Posts. Very active with The Terminal project
@thekittygirl - An IT expert, she has been very active over the years all across the blockchain. Very active with The Terminal project.
All of the above people have given their all to promote and grow the HIVE blockchain. They focus on aiding new users to navigate the blockchain and though not well known, their altruistic actions speak for themselves.
I made a post some time back (past time to vote on) that features these folks:

I hope that you are having a good holiday season. As we all know, the HIVE Blockchain can be a bit like my Marine Corps... a love-hate relationship. Hang in there buddy. Everything works out eventually.
oh ye haven't seen @dreemsteem in a while, hope she gets back to posting soon!
A good list there, think I follow most and/or have heard of them either on chain or in discord and will gladly support them more because of what they do.
Thank you so much for your response and vote. I, like you, have always been a big proponent of the social aspect of HIVE. Have a great day!
@sgt-dan...
Hit the nail on the head right from the start. So much entitlement in crypto spaces in general. The "pioneers" that claim to be involved or contributing for the sake of the community are often using that as a guise simply to extract as much value as they can. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Their ulterior motives are only too obvious.
It seems that instead of, or alongside, HPUD posts, we should introduce traditions like Burn Day, HBD Funding Day, and similar alternatives...
who's your favorite authors who stuck around - day
:P
What is considered a good Kegel Score?
I think KE is just one metric among many to consider when evaluating an account. My KE is low because I power up, and I swapped STEEM for HIVE as soon as I could after the fork and its fallout, giving me a big boost back then. It doesn't necessarily mean anything beyond that. I know some people who sold HIVE to pay bills, and that resulting KE score doesn't indicate they're just here to milk the token for a quick buck in general.
Compare it to reputation. I also have a high rep because I have been fairly consistent in publishing and commenting for a long time. Some people got a high rep from bidbots back in the day, or from vote farming schemes. I seem to have accumulated some auto-votes from zombie accounts myself. The rep number doesn't really prove anything.
If you were too look at my account based solely on reputation and KE, it still only suggests something about me as a HIVE member. You'd still need to decide whether my posts, comments, up-and down-votes, and even my witness votes affect that one way or another.
Hive has been growing consistently, within the normal crypto' ups and downs
Are u a bot, bro?)
dunno his comments have always been like that so eventually I just muted
