Lotta good stuff there Mr. P. This could get sorta disjointed because, well, I'm disjointed.
CV is a little different from the flu we are used to. A huge part of the FUD is that it is not really related, but just sprang into being about 6 months ago. There is no vaccine, there is no known treatment. We have no real idea if getting it once gives you immunity for any appreciable amount of time. It's just too damn soon to know...
Flu has the good grace to kill people relatively quickly so they don't infect so damn many people between symptoms and dead. CV is transmissible for up to 48 hours before the first symptom then it takes an average of 3 weeks to die. Ties up a hell of a lot of hospital space and time...
So, it's got some differences and it's just damn scary to the medical folks. Which transmits to general fear in we the people. To compound that, we got to see the 'panic buying' and 'hoarding' behavior sweep the general population. When there is fear in 'we the people' you can bet your ass that the pols will respond. Nobody better equipped to feel the slightest of breeze blowing.
Our infection rate in the US is doubling every 3.5 days. Which means if not interrupted we'd get the effects of a 8 month flu season in one month, rather than spread out. And so far, there is no indication that CV virus will go inactive in the warm weather like flu.
Vaccine: You've taken one more flu shot in your life than I have. Of course I've run the numbers and prefer to take my chances without. I've had two really good hard cases of flu (and a whole bunch of modest cases) in my adult life. Will I take a CV shot? Probably not, but I reserve the right to change.
So what am I saying? I don't know. I can certainly see your 'lets go back to work' idea and take our death toll and move on. I can also see trying to maximize our chances as a nation. It's not at all hard to see a death toll in the US over 100,000 by 2021. That's a lot.
And the entire scariest part? It'd be relatively easy to tweak CV19 virus into CV20 or 30 and turn it loose on the earth again. I'm guessing more than one terrorist leader has had that thought...
@bigtom13,
Keep in mind a few things about the world we live in today, especially here in the US. Some of which are:
We have been educated for the most part government controlled schools
We have medical system that would rather treat patients than cure patients
Cured patients means lost customers for the medical system
People who have found cures mysteriously die or disappear shortly after
Now with those things being said I want to share a link with you to book that was written and published back in 1914 in Tulsa, OK by Charles O. Frye
After reading it you might want to change "there is no known treatment" to "there is a known treatment, they just don't want you to know".
You will see by reading his book that "Kerosene" , yes the stuff we put in old oil lamps, is in fact a cure for viruses. Viruses have a coating, (keep in mind I sometimes confuse terms that I don't study with frequency) or a shell known as "lipids" which are not water soluble and have adhesion properties, and therefor we can't flush them out of our bodies.
Kerosene is a solvent and if I remember correctly, a seven chain hydrocarbon. When folks get kerosene into their blood system the hydrocarbons strip the lipids of that coating, basically dissolving them and thus allowing the actual virus to expelled from the body.
Shortly after Mr. C.O. spread his news with his publication in 1914 just like clock work Kerosene containers started carrying warnings about it being "harmful & may cause death" if ingested.
I'm quite sure that most anything might be harmful or even cause death when taken to much of it in at one time. So the warning may have been placed there to protect the producers from lawsuits or more importantly to instill "fear " in people who might use it for medicinal purposes...like curing viruses by dissolving them.
A teaspoon of kerosene taken two or three times a day worked miracles at curing lung problems, tuberculosis, cancer and much more according to C.O.
I hope that you will take the time to read it... there is much more in it and he does far better job explaining it then I've done here, mine is view from 50,000 feet where as his ground level. Here is that link
Thanks for the read and thoughtful comment, I truly appreciate the continued support you show to the Dash.

Fascinating! I had to look up this book to read it for myself. I see he recommends 1/2 teaspoon twice daily. How did you come across this book?
@hebrewhousewife , I just was in Tulsa, OK on business last month and had lunch with a customer and his elderly father who mentioned old "home remedies" and his family knew C.O. so I jotted down the name and did some research online and found it.
I only read it once but I was amazed too... I think if I remember right , in the testimonials there were different amounts and methods depending on what the person had as far as dosage and application. But the main thing is that it works and folks who were damn near dead fully recovered and lived to tell their story.
Glad you enjoyed it. Do you have something that you are trying to cure?
Thanks,
Sult
