10 year anniversary on Hive / Steem and I have been in crypto for over 13 years now. It's crazy to think all that time has passed and I have had several trips down memory lane recently.
One situation was starting up my primary laptop I used from 2013-2018. There were some old wallets on there and no I didn't suddenly trip across a treasure chest of old coins unfortunately. One of the other things that happened was I scrolled through my phone looking for a specific picture and was like wow! I have been a lot of places the last several years.
The reference to the pool meetings goes back to the early days when I would talk about crypto from my swimming pool. I retiled and recoated that at one point and it popped.
It was a lot of work just like most things.
I could take the anniversary post a lot of directions but I'm mainly going to say I have been a lucky man and having my health and mobility. My strength and athletic ability has remained intact this last 10 years which is huge for me. I will post my latest short of me hooping and then I'm going to post some random pictures through the years.

It's honestly been a blast over the last 10+ years. It's easy to be frustrated with various things but the way I look at it is I focus on my mind, my body, and my experiences. If I don't have a penny to my name I could survive off the land. I have my health and that's what's important.

I have only been in cryptosphere for 9 years so far. It's been one hell of a ride with massive swings. I wish the prices were doing better.
It's quite the journey for sure. Not having an insane blow off top for the Altcoin market this past cycle was brutal. Alt Season really felt like what we experienced in late 2024 during the Meme Storm.

I didn't realize you were so involved in EOS and the EOSIO based chains. I still have a lot of whatever it is called now, TELOS, WAX. I was big into BOID back in the day too, but that never really turned into anything. Anyway, congrats on your HIVE birthday. My earnings on Steem were pretty horrible. I wish had found it a little bit sooner.
It has been quite the journey for sure. One of the things that gave me quite a bit of traction in the EOSIO situation at the time wasn't that I was hugely talented it was more the fact that I didn't have a job so most guys wouldn't be able to take the time off to be a Mentor at the Hackathons. Hahhahaha π€£
Right when we were in the early days I was doing very basic videos about account creation on my YouTube channel. I think the tool was cleos. There weren't many people that were visibly making content about it so it gave me a step in and I was able to go to those Hackathons which were an amazing experience but despite all that I was never able to get funding from Block One to work on any project. That was quite upsetting and a lot of others had a similar experience. The community got left out in the cold while Block One sat on more than a 100,000 Bitcoins.
Telos really was amazing and when they implemented their EVM the DeFi offerings over there were super fast but needed funding and liquidity. I was never able to get funding from that project either.
I have a lot of thoughts about it and I'm sure you can identify with this but IT related stuff whether it is systems admin related or programming requires consistent reps. If you are deep in the weeds on the daily you can stay sharp on it but if the funding isn't there and you don't look at stuff for months or years eventually you sort of forget what you already figured out. IT has been a lot of that for me. It's been very stop and go constantly and I was never able to get outside funding for any of my projects.
We are going through that with DTube. The remaining community involved is a handful of us who weren't as involved when there was the capital raise for it. So there is no funding or liquidity currently and we will work on certain things hard for 24 or 48 hours and if we could even do that for weeks or months straight things would happen but we can't really afford to just focus all our efforts on it unfortunately. All the crypto social media related platforms are getting pressed hard but even the flow has sort of dried up on centralized social media. Influencers aren't making near as much on YouTube and TikTok.
With STEEM I never really cashed in that much. The earnings looked high and my account value got up to $20,000 but the power down cycle was so much longer and I kept building the account up and when that crash happened in 2018 a lot of the value evaporated for me.
It's been quite the journey for sure.
Ah yes, the lock up. I think that gets a lot of people. It's sounds like it has been an exciting journey!

Yeah they really were and I could have went endlessly on it. So many pictures and so many stories. I've been a lucky man for sure. No question. Fighting getting old everyday I suppose. π

Thank you! It has really been the only social media platform where I met people online and built that connection and ultimately met them in real life. I never did a collab based on YouTube, Facebook ....etc. STEEM / HIVE brought a lot of people together in real life which was super unique.
I am also a decade Hiver and from your post, also a hoop head. I was also big on EOS and did got to meet some of the EOS guys including Greymass guy, aaroncox I do wonder what have you done IN Hive. Maybe that's another article coming up.

I never really fully built out any project on HIVE. I did 3 proposals overtime and I mainly got laughed at for the most part. I got 69 votes on my last one though.
I always took the approach that if I couldn't get funding from various stuff like HIVE or EOS I couldn't just sit there and work on it a ton vs posting my content. Just like I would't go work for Google or Microsoft for free.
I would have to have more control over something to really try to put a bigger effort into it.
I am a Leader on DTube and one of the top holders but once I really came into it a little less than 2 years ago there was no funding there so it was more about taking a bigger position and trying to work on what I could. We have major issues over there and are trying to roll out an update to make the chain more stable. Currently the chain is halted.
I have a lot of plans with that project but like with anything where there isn't funding it's going to have to take a massive effort and be self funded to get it to a point where we can move forward.
That's fine, I didn't really mean you build something. Just a 10 year summary on your life in Hive as opposed of just your regular life, or life in crypto. I also had a life beside hive, crypto and tech. But because it was a Hiversary, I thought the emphasis should be done mainly on Hive experience.
For example I'll say memorable moments would be giving talks about Steem to my local crypto community. Getting pulled in Tokyo into a Steem meeting without even knowing about it. Minting a PFP with my logo on my Hive profile, installing a Hive node for testing HAF.
Getting great rewards by controversial character Bernie Sanders.
Watching Heidi travels become a crypto personality.
Watching crypto finally get booted from the community.
Watching Ned play the guitar while destroying Steem live.
The hive revolution and Justin sun.
The VR fests during COVID.
Etc etc
I posted the people I met that were Steem / HIVE famous but didn't want to dwell too much on various things that happen because so many people have left.
Even in the last couple of days I thought about at least a dozen various people who used to be real big on here. I'm probably going to Vegas in a couple of weeks and was going to hit up @stackin to see if we wants to meet up. I'm still connected to him on Instagram.
That's a great story, hive friends are the best.
Can't wait to see them next month in Barcelona.
