I am a huge fan of gaming and streaming is a great hobby of mine. I love to create content and I honestly can't play games without streaming nowadays. It's either game+stream or no gaming at all. I think it's the perfect combination. I am just a small streamer and I don't strive to become a full time streamer with beyond thousands of viewers or anything like that. I try to spend my free time on things I enjoy and creating content, both in writing and in video format is awesome.
I work full time in psychiatry, so I don't have a streaming schedule or a schedule for content creation. I do everything whenever I am free and have some spare time... But lately, I've started to wonder if it's actually possible for a "nonamer" like myself to get something really cool out of this whole shebang.
My computer is outdated and even though it still works like it's supposed to, it's literally impossible to take things to "another level". What I mean by that is that I won't be able to play & stream new games, so it will automatically affect my future content as well.
Now, as someone with a full time job, I could obviously just buy a new computer. I could get a new gaming setup if I wanted to, if I just saved some money. But, I have always liked the idea of working towards something, to have a set goal for something, and a new rig would be the perfect thing to aim for.
New hardware is coming out and I don't have a date for any of this, but if I continued to work hard and do my best in creating & sharing content with others... I've started to think that it's quite doable, in a reasonable amount of time. Say, a year.

Total cost: 42966 SEK. That's $4293 USD or 36692 Hive, at the time of writing this. (Hive is at $0,117).
I have monitors and I wouldn't need a new SSD, even though it would be a splendid upgrade. I don't need 64GB RAM or a RTX 2080 Ti 11GB either, so it's easy to see that there's room for downgrades.
If money were no object, I would definitely go for this setup, or something similar.

That being said, Hive is at $0,117 right now. It might go up or down by the time I'm ready to buy this. And frankly speaking, if it goes up to double the value, it will sit at: $0,234 and still be undervalued... (18346 Hive instead...)
So there's plenty of room for ups & downs.
Both in terms of price and components in my computer.
Imagine Hive being valued at $0,5 or $1...
However, I am talking about Hive like something I am ready to give up on, or something I want to earn a new computer from and be done with it. That's not the case.
The reason I started to think about this is due to the support I have, and it's due to the rewards I earn. I am super-thankful for the support.
You see, I got 0.000 HBD, 8.250 HIVE and 8.251 HP for one of my previous posts.
More specifically, this post:

- That's a total of 16.501 Hive or about 0.04% of the total Hive I need. (At todays rate).
25% of 36692 = 9173.00
10% of 36692 = 3669.20
1% of 36692 = 366.92
So, I would need to make a total of 2223 posts with the exact rewards, to ever afford a new gaming setup worth 36692 Hive. 2200+ posts... It's doable, but it would take me years.
I mean, 2200/365 = 6, so I would have to create 6 posts per day for an entire year which is very unlikely. Even more unlikely that I would ever reach the same rewards on all 6 posts. If I aimed to do it in 2 years, it would be 3 posts per day instead. Well, you see the pattern.
Anyhow, this is not about me trying to squeeze something out of Hive as much as I want to share and give. I want to create and share things I like and things I enjoy. I want to build something..
Instead of trying to earn 36692 Hive in total only to cash out, I will use whatever earnings I get from Twitch & Steem to grow my Hive account more rapidly as well. I should get another $100 from Twitch in a few more weeks for instance. (Thank you for the support!)
This is a test-run and nothing is set in stone. I'm just excited for the next few weeks & months to come, and it will be cool to see how far I've come by then.
I am currently sitting at ~750 HP.
Do you think I'll reach 1000 HP before the end of April? May?
- How far do you think I can go?
- Do you work towards any type of goals?
- Do you think it's possible to go from Zero to Hero?
Or in this case, from Zero to New gaming setup?
Hehe love the idea that you will try to earn the money through hive for the computer 😀
Gave you a upvote to help you on the way
Yeah, I don't know... I figured it would be a cool thing to strive for. :)
Agree with you. A new light for earn with Steen.
What? I talk Hive, not steem.
Steem is dead my friend
Yeah, I would obviously power up & reinvest liquid Hive during this time. Especially as it would yield me greater curation rewards. So, you think it would be possible in 2 years, if I followed those steps?
That's pretty neat. I figured it could be possible, but it's always nice to hear other peoples opinions in cases like this. Thanks buddy! :)
I think you can do so.
But you would properly have to write at least 2 posts daily, one can be your streaming.
And then find a good curation trail.
Yeah, that's the thing though. It's extremely hard for me to produce content that often. The covid-19 situation doesn't make things easier either... :/
I can relate that its hard to write content that often and I dont even do it and when I do its not good :D
I know you are working while Covid-19, but how does that make things harder?
Because we're being forced to work more than usual, so there's less spare time. We're either working longer hours or more days. It's one or the other. This week, I've been working monday, tuesday and wednesday. I'll continue to work friday, saturday, sunday and monday before I have an off day on tuesday next week. After that, I'll work starting wednesday again, so it's hectic right now.
Ye okay fair enough. That is hectic
YES. 😃
Always an opportunity for those who seek, right?
That is correct! :)
