A New Chapter

in #hive25 days ago (edited)

Good Evening,

I would like to take the time to introduce myself.

My friends call me Mr. Skull.

I have been a member of the Hive blockchain since January 2022. I want to thank all the whales of this chain that have allowed me to exist amongst them for so long. I also have a deep gratitude towards all of you for what you have built and what many of you still hope to accomplish. I believe many of you will be successful and I wish you the best.

There are many whales on HIVE that I am very fond of; I genuinely believe I have conveyed that to the few whales I have had an opportunity to interact with. If I haven’t, I’m sorry and this blog post is my best attempt at a sincere apology.

I have had many hobby projects over the years and had a lot of fun along the way. There are many people on this chain that are not whales but are still very good people and I have had the pleasure of interacting with them also.

At this point what happened with @raymondspeaks is part of HIVE lore. It will always be remembered for eternity.

I will not get into specifics, I have started a new project to stop abuse on HIVE. The term “abuse” is subjective and is interpreted different ways to different people.

I will never seek DHF funding and wish others that are fighting abuse the best in their approach.

This project is not perpetual, but HIVE is, so one day I will have to hand the torch to someone else.

I do not control the specific actions of the accounts that are a part of this project; each down voter will vote with their heart and I will only intervene if I feel that is not the case.

I believe in transparency and honesty. I will always do my best but will fall short from time to time. Unlike HIVE, one day I will die, and that’s ok, we all will die one day.

Man’s closest attempt at immortality has been established by blockchain technology. So what we post on HIVE is the closest thing to immortality humans will ever achieve. I am always welcome to be proven wrong but I firmly believe this. Most of the content as it stands on HIVE today does not meet this standard.

Maybe I’m overreacting and this new project is stupid? Maybe it’s impossible? But even if something is impossible you have to do the right thing. It does not matter. Nothing else matters.

I am a collector. I like to collect good conversations with good people. I have recently learned many of my conversations have been corrupted and I have no idea how deep that evil goes. The people who have done this to me can never pay me back for this, at the same time, I am not vindictive and ready to move on.

I believe in both mutually beneficial and zero sum transactions. Both trades can be profitable.

I believe doing zero sum transactions is more profitable but often comes at a moral cost. If the transaction involves a “trick,” you have been corrupted and your soul has been tarnished. We cannot undo the evil that has touched our hearts but we can let the good around us shine brighter to try to offset that darkness; there is always this option.

I have been trying to do mutually beneficial transactions but I’m no longer in that type of trading attitude. I’m not even sure it’s possible anymore.

Because this is a rant and not an actual post, I will be burning all rewards and don’t want anything for it. That money doesn’t belong to me and I have no claim to rewards on "bad" posts in my opinion.

I am going to hold everyone else to the same standard as myself, Mr. Skull. This is not an option.

I removed everyone from discord and it was the most pain I’ve felt in years. Just the fact that it was painful has been very confusing and I’m still processing it.

I want to be very clear, I am responsible for this project and its outcome. If it fails, I’m a failure and I accept that.

I have been testing out the project before it was implemented. Past votes of the downvote curators were not just the current people running these accounts. That being said, going forward it is, and I will be holding all my curators accountable if things go wrong; being let back into the project is not guaranteed because it should be a privilege and an honor to stop abuse on HIVE.

Any downvotes from me going forward will only be from my main account @hurtlocker.

This is not a threat to anyone. I legitimately like it here and want to stay, and I hope the whales that I cherished in the past will accept me as I am and forgive me for not being totally honest; I just wanted to live amongst the people and I enjoyed my obscurity.

But I cannot fix anyone else’s problems. I’m not going to try to anymore.

If I downvote someone, I am always open to feedback that is respectful and made in good faith. If you want to reach me and I’m around, I will try to respond within a reasonable amount of time to your comment below.

To those I knew in the past I share this message:

Everyone, I want to apologize for the inconvenience.

Crypto is a crazy place and things change very quickly.

I want to thank you for the times we shared and the laughs along the way. Nothing is forever, but for crypto, I think we got pretty dam close.

See you on the other side,

❤️

Mr. Skull

Thanks, you didn't have to do that.

Nope. I wanted to. I enjoy your community and wanted to give you something I think you will enjoy.

It was a great time in your community man; I don't regret a second of it and would do it all over again no questions asked.

❤️

Good to see that you didn’t leave hive after all the shit that happened! Persistence is something that is difficult to find! Downvoting is indeed a good tool that like upvoting every user has their right to use it! But people fear in using it…

I was hoping to build stuff on L2 before moving to L1. But then I was disillusioned by the whole thing.

I still want Hive Engine to exist, I like to use the bridges.

But I am done with HIVE's version of shitcoins.

I shouldn't have to trust anyone in crypto but hive engine tokens require trust the way they are setup.

They are dependent on individual people that can fail and ruin everything.

HIVE does not have this problem. I now believe HIVE is a better investment than the things I was pursuing on L2.

I hope your fight is just and that you see all the horizons.

!PIZZA

Thank you for the kind words. I offer you a similar sentiment. Good luck out there!

Ah, I see you voted me down as well as the Rising Star Game community. There are many things to discuss, but I don't have time right now. When I'm free, I'll write to you and we can discuss the ideas if you'd like.

Sounds good! I'll be around!

Just took a look at your other posts.

I like this one and gave it an upvote - https://peakd.com/hive-140217/@ydaiznfts/ibnujmix

I’m not sure why the RisingStar community has so many repetitive posts that look AI.

Briefly outlined in my post above, I’m not a huge fan of L2 right now given my recent personal experience. So I’m leaving my downvote on your RisingStar post but I look forward to see more of your hive gaming content.

I think RisingStar can have good content so I look forward to having a good conversation about your ideas. Cheers!

"I’m not sure why the RisingStar community has so many repetitive posts that look AI".

Greetings. @hurt-locker @hurtlocker Just because something appears to be AI-generated doesn't mean it is. Before downvoting, you could do a little more research.

I have experience detecting AI patterns; I've collaborated with Hive watchers for a long time, and in my experience, I can assure you that false positives are common these days. Most people translate their posts, and these translations remove much of the native slang of each speaker, making their posts appear overly polished and formal.

Free AI detection tools are rubbish; don't use them. I've tested them with text I've written, and I've often gotten false positives, both in the original language and the translated version.

What I'm trying to say is, be careful about generalizing and downvoting everything you see. I also fight against AI abuse, but I always try to investigate further before sending a report to the Hivewatchers I collaborate with.

Best regards, and keep taking care of the hive.

Assuming they are manual, what is the goal of a manual repetitive post?

I like to log my game progression on hive, so that may look repetitive.

I am curious if that is the type of post you are talking about here.

I would only consider it abuse in that case if someone simply copies and pastes the same thing every day. That is, a copy of the previous post with only a few words or statistics changed. But if the person discusses the same topic every day, yet each post is completely different from beginning to end—that is, it contributes something new—then for me it's not abuse, even if the topic is repetitive.

(Not to be confused with copy and paste) That is abuse.

I'd like to see the Rising Star community not attacked. There are many factors that also become repetitive in communities for other games or topics, something we can discuss.

I'm sorry, I don't know what L2 is.

And yes, sorry, I'll probably be freer tomorrow and I'll message you, either here or on Discord, whichever you prefer.

By the way, thanks for your comment on my post.

I am downvoting those communities as well where this is happening, some of them have responded all ready in the comments.

I am not attacking you or RisingStar.

My project is independent of other abuse projects and people can validate that my discord is deleted and I'm currently supporting no witness with this account.

I think I should be able to downvote content I like without a reason. If I'm not pushing the downvote button who is? Maybe I was having a bad day? I should be able to downvote something without creating an expectation you need to do anything.

Just because I downvote 1 post that should not be a life shattering experience.

You disagreed with my downvote and we had a conversation and I upvoted some of your other content.

This is how I will operate and if you disagree with my approach I’m happy to have a conversation.

We'll have it soon, give me time to settle in. :)

Hi, I see you unvoted one of my posts recently. I'd like to know what you didn't like about it so I can improve it. Cheers!

Low quality

Hi, I really put a lot of effort into each post, even with my 3 hours of electricity a day (I'm from Cuba). I prioritize quality above all else. I draw and share my video games. If you could explain it better, it would help me a lot! Thanks for replying.

You are being held to the same standard as myself. Money has nothing to do with it, we are equal.

Sorry, I don't quite understand your answer. English isn't my first language, but I'm always keen to improve and do my best because posting here makes me happy. I know it's difficult to please everyone, but I always try my best. I'd appreciate it if you could be more specific. Thanks again. Sorry if I'm bothering you too much, but my blog is very important to me. As you can see, I take care of everything from the visual identity to the structure.

I am not going to follow you forever. It was just my opinion at the time.

Okay, sorry if I bothered you. I'll keep writing and doing what I love, and I hope to keep improving, both here and in the real world, as a person. Have a lovely day! 🍀✨️

If I downvote someone, I am always open to feedback that is respectful and made in good faith.

Good sir, I wish to partake in the exchange of feedback.

Might I kindly request that you open the channels of communication? Hailing frequencies on my end are fully operational. I would be most obliged if you would broadcast forth, so that our discourse may proceed in both directions. My sincere thanks in advance.

🤷‍♂️

Like dude, I don't know what your deal is, but I'm just trying to find my car. You know what I'm sayin?

I am not sure but I would like to better understand your position concerning me.

You downvoted my posts on @holovision and @holovision.make. Maybe I can be a little sarcastically witty because I have some English in me and when I am frustrated that's my coping mechanism.

I explained in my most recent Actifit post what my "deal" is. You downvoted it so I assume you read it.

https://peakd.com/hive-193552/@holovision/actifit-holovision-20251113t065836789z

You claim you want to help Hive. Fine. That's a good thing. But you don't give feedback for why you downvote. So how are Hive users supposed to improve without you giving the feedback you claim you are open to?

I won't be downvoting you in return because that's not my style. You downvoted this post but maybe you only skimmed it:

https://peakd.com/hive-193552/@holovision/actifit-holovision-20251109t072413458z

I know that for this year most of my content posted has been Actifit reports. As I stated in that post 2025 has been a stressful year. To be quite honest it's probably been the worst year of my life. But I stated that for 2026 I resolve to post more lengthy content like I did in previous years. I want 2026 to be so much better than this crappy year.

And for my resolution you punished that post with a downvote.

You want me to be respectful? Thank you for sending the mixed signals in your feedback. You downvote even when my stated goal is to dig myself out of a stressful year and be a better content creator.

Have the day you deserve, kind sir.

You are running actifit posts on 2 separate accounts. I am not the only one who will downvote something like that.

O.K. Yeah, I have two different phones and I walk at home and I walk at work. Does it seem like I am trying to hide it?

So, please sir, let me make sure I get this straight. Please correct me if this is wrong. I am not trying to strawman you.

Your problem is that I post Actifit reports on two separate accounts. One is for my @holovision account which is for general stuff and my Actifit report for that is actually general content. The other Actifit Report, not a duplicate. The step numbers are different, phone is different and the content is different. The content for that is DIY because the ".make" in @holovision.make signifies that is the kind of content that gets posted for that account.

Therefore, if I am understanding you correctly, your issue is that I use the Actifit app to also post DIY to @holovision.make
Therefore, if I just have all the steps in the Actifit app for my main @holovision account and I don't use the Actifit app to post the short DIY posts then you won't complain that those DIY posts look like low quality content?

If that's your problem and you won't complain about the short DIY content on @holovision.make then I can work with that. To me it seems like without the Actifit report context those posts look like the low quality kind of content that @lasseehlers posts.

But if that's what it takes to appease you then I am willing to compromise and just post non-Actifit short DIY content. No problem.

Do we have a deal?

Good sir, many hours have drifted past upon the weary hands of the clock, and still, I find myself bereft of your most esteemed response.

I humbly beseech thee to confirm whether we are, in fact, in accord. Might you be so gracious as to respond to my prior inquiry? Should the employment of Actifit twice prove odious to thine sensibilities, I shall henceforth abstain from posting Actifit reports upon my esteemed @holovision.make account. Thus shall my content be rendered most minimal, bereft of Actifit app embellishment or context, as is thy will.

Was mine previous entreaty not adorned with sufficiency of respect to please thine most delicate tastes?

O.K. Yeah, I have two different phones and I walk at home and I walk at work. Does it seem like I am trying to hide it?

So, please sir, let me make sure I get this straight. Please correct me if this is wrong. I am not trying to strawman you.

Reward disagreements are just a part of Hive. I don't blame anyone since everyone can do what they want with their vote. It does remind me that I have kind of taken the status quo for granted, and I do think that I should be moving my Actifit posts to a different account. I don't think I would ever stop Actifit, as it is what motivates me to touch grass and move around to be healthy. I'll probably do that this weekend when I have time. At least the auto-votes won't be taking away from the reward pool.

If you have any comments about my other posts, feel free to let me know if you have any comments about it. I like the type of content that I make, and I am always up for trying to improve it if people have suggestions. If you don't like it, then continue as you have been. Hive is a place for all of us, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

People can have good actifit posts.

My issue with your posts is they are all almost exactly the same.

As for my posts, I don't think they are exactly the same. I put in work to find a good thing to discuss for Splinterlands regarding a battle or strategy. I am not posting the exact same content every time, but I guess I'll stop the brawl reviews. It's probably not helping there. I'll probably stop the giveaway after I give out the prize this week.

Honestly, I think picking a card, battle, or strategy, then talking about it, is valid content. It's subjective, I guess, though.

This isn't automated. I won't be able to downvote every post. I can always change my opinion in the future.

That is understandable, and I understand your view. You are doing what you think is right for the platform, and there is nothing wrong with that. I will be changing content in a more positive way, and that is just how the internet is.

Go get em! Grab life by the horns!

Point taken. I'll be moving my Actifit posts to a separate account when I get the time (later this week). Honestly, Actifit isn't about the rewards for me, but more about the motivation to walk around and stay healthy. It's the setting the goal of getting enough steps that gets me to do the walking. Once it's there on the new account, go ahead and downvote it if you want.

I am not vindictive and will not chase you around the blockchain.

If you feel like I am targeting you more over someone else that deserves a downvote more, just tell me and I will give their account a look.

I don't want to do this alone; anyone can help with this project by dropping a link to some other type of content that is worse than theirs that I should be downvoting instead.

Like everyone, I have limited downvotes.

Good morning
I see you down voted one of my post recently, I would want to know what I did wrong that you don't like so I can correct it. Thank you

That particular post looks like AI.

It is very different than your other posts in style and format imo.

Thank for your response I agree with you that it's different from what my former post looks like in style and formate.
I would improve and do better on my next post.

Thank you! Good luck!

Thank you for your time

I will remember your last words to me and your apology.

we all have lost a lot or everything and no one deserved that..
ray wont but you might help make hive a good place.

thanks for the clarity and caring, going for abuses is a must.

I lost a lot of friends because of this. Other people cared about the lost money more than I did. I was upset because I lost friends, not because I lost money. I had a city job in Neoxian City I really enjoyed. I had to step away from that and my entire discord because I legit can't handle this.

Everyone's focus on the money just made me realize most these people aren't our friends and this is all superficial.

Going after abuse is just how I am coping. I am not going to sit on my ass and do nothing.

Not when there is some positive change I can attempt to effectuate and all it requires is me buying hive and powering it up.

i feel the same ...
i am leaving, i wish you well in hive
good luck on your next project here.

Because this is a rant and not an actual post, I will be burning all rewards and don’t want anything for it. That money doesn’t belong to me and I have no claim to rewards on "bad" posts in my opinion.

Post like these are what social media is for, rant or not it is a valid post.

I still would like to see those posts on HIVE but don't believe all posts should get rewards.

Hive is free to use. No one should get paid just for talking.

I can see some cases where it would be valid to upvote something that went viral and had a lot of thought put into it.

More words <> more rewards

Hive is free to use. No one should get paid just for talking.

I disagree, that's exactly what social media is. The Hive reward pool will issue tokens daily regardless if anyone has anything interesting to say. I'd rather see someone expressing their feelings or just "talking" than 1000 shitty photos of some weed in the back of their yard so they have something for people to throw votes on.

O for sure I agree with you there.

I think there are many cases in which comments should be upvoted. Some comments are pretty hilarious and made in good faith.

I want to see more of that on HIVE.

Upvoting your responses is an example.

It’s not a post, but I think we are having a good conversation about it.

Comments are usually the most valuable content.

lol well you know me I didn't think the whole thing through.

Wasn't trying for the perfect plan and there was some yolo element to this 🤣

Thank you for the response. I’m changing my position to be less rigid; I agree with you.

If I downvote someone, I am always open to feedback that is respectful and made in good faith.

And I am open to knowing why you downvoted me. So why downvote with no explanation in a reply? I am not psychic nor have I ever seriously claimed to be able to read minds. So how am I supposed to access what is in your head so I can know what you subjectively believe I did wrong?

I do not feel like your question was respectful.
