Hi everyone! Big fan of Hive, long time user and very bullish. I was one of the first people on Steemit way back when and happily switched over to Hive.
I'm one of the few major creators still happily posting on Hive actively trying to get other big creators here and trying to help others in this community.
I have a lot of awesome followers and a couple whales who've seriously saved my life as I was deleted from YouTube and other mainstream platforms. I've faced a lot of censorship. Hive has made it possible to make a living to some degree while I search for new ways to sustain a media enterprise that's censored around every bend.
The issue here is I've been forced to write a post like this. There are a couple of whales that come to nearly all of my posts and downvote me, significantly wiping out the majority of the other combined upvotes. This isn't all about votes for me, it's the fact that whales who are obviously of complete mainstream ideological viewpoints are coming here and seeking me out to downvote so that I cannot actually sustain myself on here.
As I mentioned, I'm one of the only major creators still promoting Hive and I get essentially censored (in a decentralized way) by a couple people with a lot of money. This is a flaw.
The market is always right but that is a scarcity vs demand flow of money. In this case, it's just a couple rich guys taking away half my money like the government.
This has been a question many have had since the early days of Steemit. What can be done? Well, nothing really other than support. I try to make this community better and most people are supportive, but it only takes two people to wipe out all of my hard work.
This issue really needs to be taken into consideration and dealt with in some way.
If we want more big creators on here to make Hive a better place, we can't have rich people pushing the bigger creators away by taking all of their money.
Just a loose thought of mine as I wake up to refresh my Hive and see every single post drop in less than half. Sad.
All because of a guy named "smooth" and a guy named "gtg".
I will always stand up to bullies whether it benefits me or not. Let's make this a better place. Not a safe place like some SJW would demand, but at least come to understand some sort of ethics where we aren't overcome by rich people that downvote all anti-establishment views for no reason, yet never actually vocalize why. They just hide in the shadows unnecessarily downvoting what they don't like. There are certainly a lot of creators here that I don't like, but I don't go and downvote them, I simply don't seek them out and I simply don't upvote them.
There's a flaw in the system.

If I were to take a guess as to why you are getting downvoted is because all your post is a link to a video that directs traffic outside of Hive with minimal to no comment interactions. If you used 3speak or whatever video platform on Hive they would probably leave you alone.
It has been the biggest flaw since steemit then hive/ The downvote nutters are like the safety nett brigade with face nappies on. COWARDS.

I agree - it is a real flaw in the system. I think downvotes should not affect monetization - if you don't like something just mute and filter. That way people can make crypto here producing content for people who like what they do. That draws in more users which benefits everyone who holds hive tokens.
I'm going to call bullshit right here, because I've just look at the list of your posts and only your latest post has been downvoted by said persons out of all posts you've made in the last months. ONE post. They are in there right to downvote your posts just as everyone who upvoted is in their right to upvote. Likely they decided that the content you make was not worth the reward you were getting and adjusted it because they are able to.
You aren't being targeted, you aren't being bullied. there is not flaw in the system. Everything is working as intended.

They literally took back their downvotes on a few of my posts since I posted this. Not bullshit. One of them was regularly commenting before with troll shit that had nothing to do with the post too. A couple months ago they did it to every post for about 3 weeks. Now they have begun again, and this time it appears some of the votes seem to have been taken back somehow. Not sure how it works.
Well the thing is to take back a downvote means to send out a transactions nullifying the previous one, I can't find any such transactions on their accounts.

It was the case. It looks like the downvotes were somehow taken back which I don't understand. After I posted this I went for breakfast. I come back and they're only on one. But a few months ago the same people were even troll commenting with nonsense that has nothing to do with the posts at hand and downvoting each one for weeks at a time which resulted in a lot of meager 3 or 4 dollar posts. Screenshot away. I don't lie.
The blockchain does not forget. Every transaction is visible forever.
I just checked the last 7 days of your account history. There is only one downvote from gtg and 1 from smooth. And there is no cancel downvote operation at all, so YOU JUST LIED AGAIN AND I CAN PROVE IT.

quick question. I know blockchain is immutable, but the api we are interfacing with is not the blockchain. Is there another way to check the actual blockchain for this acitivity you saw?
Then what did I see? Is it a glitch on the site? Or am I seeing things?
Sorry to hear man! It can be a bit tough because it’s a free and open platform, so anyone can decide to downvote for any reason. I do wish they would say why they are downvoting so that the issue can be addressed.
My only guess can be some of the whales tend to try to even out the rewards on posts, and they probably reacting to the automatic voting up of your posts. I have no issue with it, and think we should do more to support independent journalists such as yourself!
It’s good that you’re engaging the community, which shows your paying attention to the Hive community, not just dropping content and dipping out.
I do hope that these whales see this, and comment, because that’s the only way we are going to find a way for this to work for everyone, not just people that certain whales agree with.
I try to spare upvotes for you and other journalists when I can, tho I am only a dolphin, but I also run a small community so I don’t always have the votes to spare. But I’ll upvote anything of yours I see downvoted.

I personally understand your position ass a news outlet , to busy investigating the next show , doing the works , i see that , it could be some don't . Would be nice if they would put words to there deeds do .
