A clearer sense of direction on Hive will only emerge if ...
See thats the problem right at the start. 😅

People like discussions, like talking about stuff, and that rarely or never leads to anything.
The truth of the matter is when it comes to DOING, the only time you can force anyone to do anything is …. and this might shock many people … IS IF YOU PAY THEM.
All of what you listed is fine, and i have actually implemented some of it where I can realistically implement it like with VP. Not because I was paid, but because it was damaging not to. But thats partial, inplementing this accross the board is almost impossible.
Most places I cannot push this as I cannot force anyone to do anything or do work or action that they would need to do.
For Valueplan I can do something as an example, thats coming out for Q1 of new budget. Basically most of the second part you listed is a part of the new approach. Execution and KPI based. And im not talking worthless KPIs we have been focuing on right now, but economically driven, focusing on measurable results that arent just “this many people showed up at an event” or “this many accounts were made”. Ofc, not all efforts will have these same KPIs and most times because of having to rely on others that arent accountable in any way, you could even say its even more beneficial to cut some expenditure because the delivery wont be reliable.
Mostly, right now the KPIs we hold in high regards are intermediate KPIs we have been treating as final outcomes. And almost in 100% of cases theyve been utterly worthless because no follow up was made, no final conversion could be made, funnels broken, wrong regions of the world focused, all of it stemming from poor strategy.
Who are you going to tell to do all this stuff you listed here? Stakeholders? Specific dapps?
Me?
You know what… Sure… lets put it this way. Im currently one of the very few people onchain in terms of BD, conflict resolution, results, fund raise for my projects and others projects, in terms of stakeholder relationships that i could theoretically get this done. Yeah, Im pretty confident I could do it.
Give me “the mandate of heaven”, “community mandate” in better words where the community makes a statement that my word carries the strength of the stakeholders and community behind it. Pay me 6 figures per year and ill do it.
No? You saying this wouldnt pass? People will bitch? They will say “if only we discuss all these things a bit more, share great ideas between ourselves and during meetups, and if people only say stuff, and agree onchain it will all magically be fixed on its own”. You know kind if what weve been doing for last decade?
If you think thats how it would go you would be correct. And that my friend is why your effort writing this comment and me responding to it is not worth the block its printed in.
Maybe it is just your pessimism and negativity that is actually preventing progress. Bad attitudes can become infectious and pervasive, as we see in the USA currently.
Instead of telling us why not, try finding some positive energy and tell us we can improve things. Otherwise, Hive will continue to underperform and dwindle away, as we have all been seeing for years already.
I dont lie to people. Talking wont change anything. It never could.
Any change you want to see needs to come from you.
I truly can't tell if you are kidding yourself or bullshitting me. All I know is every exchange I have with you, I bring the positive and you are rude and disinterested in even listening.
To say any change needs to come from me is absurd when Hive is run by 20 or so people who, in my experience of trying to reach out to them, are just like you, rude, disinterested and dismissive.
This arrogance and complacency is the root of Hive's problems and I expected better from you, but you seem to be just the same as them, so I guess the truth is that those who dominate Hive are too busy lining their own pockets to care about anything positive for the wider community.
Im going to reveal something.... thats not true. Hive is not run by anyone in the way you think it is.
There is no one you can tell your concerns to for them to change them, everything you wrote here, me setting aside you calling me arrogant, I gave a positive response to and even said I am implementing something like that where I can.
No one dominates anything here.
Man, I really can't tell who you are kidding but I know dozens of great hivers who all say the same thing and then there is you. Not difficult to figure out who I believe, not least cos your own actions demonstrate how unpleasant and unwelcoming senior hivers are.
Finally, I did not call you arrogant, I said "This arrogance and complacency is the root of Hive's problems and I expected better from you, but you seem to be just the same as them". Seems like I was as wrong about expecting better as I was believing Hive actually is a welcome and welcoming decentralised social media platform rather than a whale enrichment project.
If it wasnt for Splinterlands and a small number of decent people I have met on Hive, I wouldn't waste my time with any of it or any of you.
You can believe whoever you want. If they say theres a shadow government and people in control, im sure thats more comforting to believe.
Im sure that makes it weird seeing me saying that we need more structure. So either im trying to fool you or your friends are wrong.
Whatever you want to change, it has to come from you. Or you can start targeting individuals 1 by 1 and try and have them fix the one small thing they work on personally. There is no one to fix everything. definitely no one to do everything you listed there.
It is really hard to follow you as your grasp of logic and reasoning is frankly weird, however what I know to be actual fact is that you have been nothing but rude, hostile, and dismissive from the very first minute I reached out to you, whereas others I have met have been nothing but kind and supportive.
Saying "Whatever you want to change, it has to come from you" is either you can't see the wood for the trees, total bullshit, or just a blatant lie, so whether you are kidding yourself or me is kind of irrelevant as all it does is prove that trying to engage with Hive in any kind of meaningful way is utterly pointless. Well done on that... 😒
