The Quiet progress...

in #hive20 hours ago

It might seem as if I’ve become a quiet man lately, but that’s not exactly true. Yes, I’m writing less on my blog and barely making content, but believe me—I’ve been putting in a lot of work.

My father told me when I was still quite young that my obsessive behavior would one day be my downfall. I won’t lie—there’s some truth to that, some real danger there—but it can also be a kind of superpower. I simply don’t like to lose. I don’t like not knowing. And I especially dislike feeling helpless.

This year, more than ever, I’ve decided not to be helpless anymore—to do something, or once and for all shut up about this whole “crypto thing” I’ve been preaching for eight years. So, at the ripe age of 45, I’m spending my days learning code, finding ways to help out, to contribute to our ever-evolving ecosystem.

For the past two months, I’ve been dedicating more than half my day to coding. I’ve been working with @eddiespino and a small group of Hiveans on improving Hive’s very own video platform, @threespeak. I think what we’re achieving is something we can truly be proud of—and I, for one, sometimes can’t believe how much we’ve managed to do in such a short time. I say this while also realizing I’ve been staying up, sometimes until 3 a.m., working on this project.

Today, while talking with Jarvie from Peakd about @snapie and our future plans, I realized it’s been over a week since I’ve touched any Snapie code. A long list of to-dos waits for me, beaming thoughts straight into my head, filling it with a bit of guilt—and yet, I’m hyper-focused on the task at hand.

If you could peer into my mind, I think you’d understand my motivations too. I may lack the words to communicate them perfectly right now, but I can try. I feel like a foundational pillar needs to be reinforced to make what we build on top of it as solid as it needs to be. That may not sound controversial, but it can look confusing from the outside.

I want to deliver on the promise of direct uploads for videos on @snapie—and that will happen. But for that to happen, we need to first build an easy, effective, and reliable way to do it. An infrastructure centered on reliability seems to me to be at the heart of such a daring goal.

Very soon, my dear friends, a long-form post full of details about everything we’re working on will see the light of day. I think it’s going to make a lot of people happy. As for me, the experience alone has already given me plenty of reasons to smile. Yes—even as I watch the dollar value of my wallet dwindle every single day.

Thank you for the work you are doing. Haven't been feeling too well this wee so I haven't been able to write a coherent post (😄). Not coming out well. I'm here, period, and appreciate those who are working to make this place not only sustainable, but dynamic.

It’s great to see someone moving from writing to actually building within the Hive ecosystem. Learning coding and helping improve threespeak sounds like a big step forward. Can’t wait to see how the new features turn out.

Hello, great achievement...

to avoid spamming your posts/blog pages, will every post on/through Snapie always appear only in the comments section?
Without needing to comment on the peak.snaps account, will it automatically appear only in the comments section?

thank you

Snapie works with Peakd snaps. So, if you are on peakd, using their short form content, you might not notice some of the users there are using Snapie

yeah, i didn't realize that, thank you very much, it work great...
