The end of our steem / steemit journey

Yesterday we - @psionic-tremors, @dog-marley an me - received our last power-down on the steem blockchain.
These - like all the steem we received before - were directly converted into Hive.
We could have speculated for a better exchange rate but like the other weeks, we did it directly.
12 weeks it took us and every Wednesday I was checking the best and simplest way to exchange the received steem into hive. Most of the time it was steem-engine.

You might wonder why it took us 12 instead of 13 weeks

Well, we started the power-downs 12 weeks ago on a Wednesday evening. When there were 5 weeks left there was the hard-fork that not only removed a lot of steem from users but also reduced the power-down period from 13 to 4 weeks. And that happened also on a Wednesday evening.
So we stopped the power-downs and restarted them which spared us one week.

Double feelings

Steem and steemit did a lot with me. It enhanced my interest in crypto but also showed me new aspects of social media.
I got to know new people from all over the world ... but also some living very close to me.
Most of them will stay "virtual friends", some of them I had the chance to meet personally, two of them died much too early.
One of the two is the person who engaged me in the very beginning to start my journey 2.5 years ago.

So I left the platform that did all this to me but luckily 99% of the persons I got to know on the steem blockchain moved also to hive.
This makes it not only much easier to say farewell to steem - formally known as a decentralized blockchain - and steemit. It makes me happy to draw a line under the past and see the great development of hive with all its dapps.
All the content is still available now on hive - nothing got lost.

This being said, I want to thank all readers and supporters who actively followed me on steem and still do here on hive.

You will not see me on steem/steemit anymore.
In the last weeks, I still voted for some posts on steemit written by people I appreciate and like when I saw a post more or less accidentally. This will stop now too. It makes no sense to vote with 4 SP left and I simply will not log in there anymore.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Rising Star is still in ALPHA test phase - are you an early joiner/tester?

Sort:

My last power downs are also happening this week / next week and it's just great to be able to reinvest in Hive and say good bye to Steem. However I did invest quite a lot on SBI early on as I liked the concept so I will probably post once a week just to get the rewards to then power down.

I think STEEM is going to take a big dip in content this week as everyone reached the end of their power downs.

I have fond memories of STEEM, especially dsound, but now we have a stronger platform in Hive to move forward with.

Onwards and upwards!

Hello @risingstargame,

you know that you can transfer the steem based SBI to hive based HSBI, don't you?

I also think that steem will take a big downwards trend from now on. It did already but will accelerate when all power-downs are finished.

HIVE ON!!!

I didn't know you could do that! I will investigate. Thank you.

Can't wait until next week and it's all over for me. I have moved some to Hive (my author rewards so about 8k HP) but the rest is a return to BTC as I bought up around 22k Steem when it was at its lowest so got a nice return on it all.

Keep on Hiving, catch you and the music around this new vibrant platform!

Good to hear you are also seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with steem :)
You have/had a lot more to move of course and I'm glad you could ... you never know what or sunny-boy is up to.

We'll make our way here at the hive.
Keep on the good work and

HIVE ON!!!

Yeah I was shitting it to be honest when I saw them just delete people's funds like that, feel for the accounts affected. Who in their right mind is buying up STEEM now?

Aiming for Orca on Hive this year now so fingers crossed that will be one big crypto goal achieved 😊

Hive on my friend 💪

Ik begrijp de beslissing...
