The News
I do not really need to generate my own chart to show the state of things when I can just snapshot this list. The last week has seen huge loses across the board. $HIVE has actually dropped less than some others, but then it was low to start with.

I do not know all the causes, but this seems like a big adjustment. Perhaps the speculators are moving their money into AI ventures, but then they may only care about profit. The other side of crypto lies in its origins of offering alternatives to conventional finance. In the case of Hive the coin provides incentives to blog and to run the necessary infrastructure. Unlike some others it is not a massive energy hog and transactions are both fast and free. Like many blockchains the transactions are all public, so you do have to be aware that your actions can be monitored.
I do not rely on Hive income, but I know many use it to cover daily expenses and so they will be hit by the current price. I always thought it had the potential to empower people who struggle to get by and I hope that can still happen. This is part of why I want it to succeed. I have no plans to power down for now.
@mantequilla-soft is the group behind @snapie and @threespeak who have a proposal where they plan to burn the funds they get. I think this is partly symbolic, but it may affect the Hive economy a little. When tokens are continually being generated then inflation can be an issue, especially if you are trying to maintain a stablecoin.
Friday Follows
- @ksteem is one of the people sharing their solar statistics on Hive. I just posted my own for last month.
- @karmatic put out some powerful music. That post reaches payout soon, so send a vote if you can.
- Also on the music front, @man-with-a-sax was here before, but lost his keys. You may guess what he plays.
- @rubenstorm did a write-up on the Fediverse. This is another type of decentralised social media that includes Mastodon. It is not blockchain and some people there are quite hostile to that concept, but I think there is potential for Hive to connect to it somehow.
- My old friend @the-bitcoin-dood celebrated 2000 followers. As he suspected not all of them are still active. I was able to use @hivesql to check the numbers.
Community Chest
I started the whisky community a while back. It is fairly quiet, but has a particular focus. I need to post about my latest bottles, but @livinguktaiwan just put one up.
The HiveDevs community is a good place to see what people are working on. I see @woelfchen asked about backing up a Hive profile and @sm-silva immediately provided a solution. There is also a login alternative from @thebeedevs that uses your Google Drive to securely store keys.
The End
I will skip the Dog House this week as I need to concentrate on positive aspects of Hive for now. On such an unrestricted platform there is little I can do about bad behaviour. Just know that if you are seen as bad for Hive then some people are likely to take action. I have no influence on that.
I will be publishing an updated #BritList tomorrow, so let me know of any additions and prod your inactive friends to get back onto Hive. We need more active people to make it even more fun.
Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!

I think it is important for us to continue helping one another and highlighting what makes Hive unique, I believe in its ability to financially empower people ;)
Exactly. It may not be easy money, but everyone has a chance.
It was so great to see you in the live Co-Working for Hive, @creativeworkhour, today not only working but playing your drums!
Did you notice that your recommendation for Robert Fripp came in rather handy for the ambiance flow music? I aired the "Evening Star" album of his featuring Brian Eno. Deep work hypnotic!
I did wonder about the music. I mostly had it muted whilst drumming of course as it's not really 'drummy music'.
It's nice to see some actual faces online for a change.
I applaud people like you who maintain the spirit to help others. I confess that I'm deeply affected by the decline in the values others contribute by not offering support, at least to those of us who are economically disadvantaged (for example, me, being Cuban and going through a difficult situation in my country). Thank you for not losing heart!
I'm just someone who plays with this stuff, but I hope it can grow as it could benefit many. It's up to all of us to make that happen.

Panic and terror or opportunity...
I have no doubt ;)
I also don't rely on hive to live, I keep stacking, if it's flowers they will bloom, otherwise it was good until it lasted
It seems like a lot of institutional money is flowing out of crypto ETFs and back into tech and safe havens like gold.
I've got some new bottles too, but I haven't opened them yet, so I haven't had the chance to post about them.
I tasted Queen Margot at a friend's. And it's not good. I prefer !BEER :)
Some drinks are not to everyone's taste. I don't think I liked whisky the first time I tried it, but they vary a lot.
