The News

As $HIVE struggles to get over 5c I see that the legacy coin is now under 4c and falling, so things could be worse. Mind you, they seem to have nothing much going on.

BTW I have been finding the CoinGecko site is acting strangely in Firefox as it keeps reloading. It is okay in other browsers. I generate the chart with a Python script.

If you have not tuned into the #hivethrive show then you are missing out. The crew of @alessandrawhite, @shadowspub, @buttcoins and @meno have talked to lots of people across the Hive community. Lots of people gather in the live chat to discuss the topic of the day. The latest guest was @elmerlin who talked about the re-launch of @liketu. I have looked at it before, but there is a lot in there. What caught my attention is that it can pick up run data from Strava to show some statistics in a post. I have been using @strava2hive, but that uses an API that does not allow public sharing of data. I did a post with liketu and that shows the run, but it will not appear in other Hive front ends. Maybe they will add support for that as I assume the data is in the blockchain.

I have seen updates from @keychain, @snapie, @ecency and @peakd as well as @sagarkothari88 so you should see new features in whatever Hive front end you use.

Friday Follows

  • I do enjoy comic art and saw @mimerr has new work. I hope to see more of that.
  • @ds-tech has a video about various risks to privacy that could even affect open source projects like Linux.
  • @livinguktaiwan marked nine years on Hive. A lot of the old crowd are still here and active as they appreciate what this platform offers. It is not just about the rewards. We have freedom to build communities and applications.
  • @normie.fitness has been running in challenging conditions. It is hot in the UK too, so I am taking it a bit easy.

Help Wanted

One of the friends I created an account for is having problems logging into Hive. Their keys have not changed, but now they do not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix that? I did look at account recovery, but that may only apply if someone else changed your keys and you want to get control back.

The Dog House

There is a saying along the lines of it being pointless to keep doing the same thing in hope of different results. Some people do not seem to get that. Being annoying gets you blocked or even downvoted, but we can all chose how to behave. I will say no more, but I do not get involved in negative activities.

The End

We are nearly at the end of another month, so I will be looking to compile the #BritList. I keep hoping some inactive people will come back, but the low price does not help. I would also like to see people working on lists for other countries. I have made my scripts available for anyone to use.

Have a great weekend and Hive five (cents)!

I appreciate how you support our show by attending, but your kind mention is the best treat you could’ve offered me on this insanely hot day 🥵 here in the Leeds Creative District.

Believe it or sweat 😰it, it’s hotter in my flat than outside! It only HIVE’s value would rise like these gawd-awful high temperatures! 🌡️

God awful temperatures, it is effing wonderful, its summer, its getting naked in the back garden time, its enjoying the sun the heat and life in general.!!! yee haw. Shit if you gotta work though. Awesome to see someone else who measures in Fahrenheit. None of that centigrade malarkey in my life.

Doubt if the token will ever reach those dizzying heights again in my lifetime, Ho HUm

It's about 30C in our house. Can be cooler outside if you can find some shade and a breeze.

Thank you for the shout-out!

You are very welcome

Thanks for the mention. 😄 I too, hope I make more comic art! 😅

No problem. Keep it up

The most repeated issue with keys that I see with new accounts is that they don't reveal their private keys and are attempting to login with public keys. You may want to check that first.

I have tried the private keys that were saved from peakd when the account was created. They were working for a good while, but not in the last few months. There is no sign that they changed.

No suggestions then! Good luck.

Great picks this week, @steevc! 👏 Quick one — I built IGSH (https://igsh.tv), a fast, clean, multilingual front-end for Hive video: IPFS playback, 10 languages, a quality selector, no logo splash. Your videos already appear there. Would genuinely love your feedback if you try it 🙌

I'll have a look. There are so many Hive projects that it's hard to keep up.

Thanks for the shout-out Steve, I hope more people will start to focus on the community rather than rewards

Couldn't the login issue be a Keychain glitch? How about trying Hive Connect or one of the other methods, just to make sure it's the keys that aren't working?

It's not just Keychain. I've done other checks. Still looking into it.

You sure recover account is only from stolen keys? Could try anyways

I've been told by people who know these things.

This 5cent mark seems to never end. At least when BTC dropped under the 60k nothing that big happened here...

I wouldn't like to see it go down much more. Any recovery needs to be sustainable and driven by people investing, but they need good reasons.

I just read the dalz post about power up. We are currently with 40% hive Staked rn

I've just upped my stake!

Good to hear!

$HIVE seems to be doing better than other legacy coins.

Yeah, but still not great.

It really been an excellent motivator as far as reviewing current events in our growing blockchain environment is concerned. I completely understand your frustration when it comes to price issues since it is important for us to keep our minds on construction (I want to see Hive >0.2$).

It is truly amazing how we keep on getting new features from our main front ends.

Concerning your friend's login problems, I would recommend that he verifies his private keys using another local wallet.

How do I verify that then? I've tried it in Keychain.

So have both you and him tried it on separate machines?
In my case I got locked out because my browser & extension were outdated, and I couldn't update the browser.

I've tried direct log in with the keys and that doesn't work. It looks like the public keys do not match so something is definitely wrong.

This is the only way I know for now...
